2/4/13, 2/5/13 NSSLHA Updates Yankee Candle Sale: • • • • • • • • • • • New Yankee Candle sale packets are in! Packets were passed out at the meeting If you need a catalogue/ order form stop by Mrs. Kowalski’s office Fill out form-­‐ do not charge sales tax or shipping Collect money as you order them Checks can be made out to NSSLHA Cover letter in the packet has a lot of info Email the board if you have any questions Sale ends 2/22/13 (Friday) Feel free to turn in packets to Mrs. Kowalski’s office or at our meetings Money going to ACFC, Autism Collaborative Center, EMU Clinic Upcoming Events: • • • Speaker o Monday, Feb.11th at 4:30 o Lynn from the Aphasia Community Friendship Center (ACFC) o Will be bringing at least one person with Aphasia to talk o Talk about their organization and what they do o Presenting at MSHA so they will be practicing their presentation for us Bake Sale o Tuesday, Feb. 12th o Goods must be store bought o Sign up sheets was passed around to sign up for working the table and/or bringing in baked goods o Dom’s bakery is always a good option to get items however, Kroger, Meijer, etc. is perfectly acceptable as well o If you missed the meeting but want to volunteer please email us o Participation point for volunteering to work at the table o Drop off baked goods on Monday to Mrs. Kowalski’s office before 4:30 o If bringing baked goods on Tuesday, bring them directly to the table o Also looking for people to design posters to hang up to advertise Apparel Sale o Same apparel that we sold last semester (almost) o Feb. 18th-­‐27th o Bag will be slightly different § Available in black now also § “E” is a little smaller Next meeting, bring the apparel you ordered and we will talk about how apparel fit if you bought anything that doesn’t fit, bring it to that meeting so we can try and find someone to buy it from you NSSLHA Pens o $10 o One of our member’s mom makes them and is donating them to us to sell o o • o • • • o All proceeds go to NSSLHA o Email us if you would like to buy one and weren’t at the meeting to sign up for one Basketball Game Social Outing o Saturday, February 23rd o We will all meet beforehand and go together o Wear your NSSLHA gear! o Free for students so bring your ID! o Great way to get to know fellow NSSLHA members and have fun on campus Tower Inn Fundraiser o Set up for some time in March o More details when it gets closer MSHA o March 21st-­‐23rd (Thursday-­‐Saturday) in Dearborn, MI o Register to be a member, become a volunteer, and register for the conference at www.michiganspeechhearing.org § Student membership is $30 § Once you’re a member, you can register for the conference for $20 if you also volunteer for 1-­‐2 hours. § Specific instructions on the process have been requested from MSHA to avoid confusion. o We would love to win the award for most student members from one university o A fundraiser or social event will occur at the end of either Friday or Saturday at a nearby restaurant Board Member Positions • • • Elections will be April 2nd and 3rd Secretary o Taking the minutes at NSSLHA meetings o Keeping the binder updated with minutes and the calendar and anything else that would be helpful for the next e-­‐board members. § Making sure event surveys are filled out § Keep minutes up to date o Set up fundraisers in the community o Attend events any miscellaneous jobs the board comes up with o Should be organized, up to date, prompt Treasurer o Keep a record of money going in/out of NSSLHA account o Collect dues from members throughout the semesters o Collect/count money from fundraisers o Keep in contact with Mrs. Kowalski about putting money in/out of bank account o Get checks from Mrs. Kowalski to reimburse executive board members o Other: § Make/update bulletin board-­‐includes making monthly calendar, posters, etc. § Set up Yankee Candle fundraiser § Buy snacks for meetings § Attend lots of NSSLHA events/fundraisers-­‐Fajita Fest, BD's Mongolian BBQ, Yankee Candle, etc. § Help out whenever/wherever needed
