Negotiable March 25, 2016 CLOSE: Open Until Filled Roles: A full-time College faculty is responsible for instruction, assessment, advising, committee work, and service to the College. Other duties may include grant management, research, or specific academic endeavors. A College faculty is critical in creating, maintaining, assessing, and reflecting upon a learning environment where academic discipline interweaves with the College mission to support student learning and the Diné Education Philosophy. Dine’ College, Tsaile, is looking for a qualified instructor in the areas of Human Biology classes. The successful applicant will have the background necessary to teach all classes in Human Biology including Human Anatomy/Physiology, Human Nutrition, and General Biology. It is highly desirable that the candidate also be experienced in teaching Microbiology. The candidate will also be expected to deliver classes in Developmental Chemistry. An August 2016 start date is desired. Duties and Responsibilities: Instruction and curriculum. Times, days, and site(s) for teaching of courses vary and mode of delivery may include distance education. As a multisite college, faculty may be required to teach at satellite centers. Assessment of courses and programs. Academic advising and mentoring. Service on committees. Service to the College through student organization advising, service learning, disappearing task force, grant management, research, or specific academic endeavors, etc. Perform additional duties as assigned. 95% 1% 1% 1% 1% 1% Minimum Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Biology or similar field. Education: For teaching of 100-200 level courses: Minimum of a master degree in the respective discipline with minimum coursework of 24 credit hours of upper division and/or graduate credit in the discipline to be taught. Education: For teaching of 300-400 level courses: Minimum of a master degree, doctorate degree preferred in the respective discipline with a minimum of 24 credit hours of upper division and/or graduate credit in the discipline to be taught with demonstration of extensive or specialized discipline knowledge. Minimum standards for Special Diné Scholars Credentials include rigorous testing, validation, verification, special certification, specialized clinical experience or expertise through wide critical and public recognition. Experience: Four years of experience to include: A minimum of two years' satisfactory or above college teaching experience and a minimum of two years' experience in an institution of higher education. Problem solving and decision-making skills. A faculty is expected to have a high degree of proficiency in computer software used to support the administration of higher education. Software use include but is not limited to, general office functions such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet services. In addition, a faculty is expected to utilize academic-specific programs for course delivery (face-to-face, synchronous, and asynchronous), and course maintenance (such as grade submissions, posting of syllabus, etc.). Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
