Role:
An adjunct College English faculty is responsible for instruction and assessment. An adjunct faculty supports student learning
through teaching courses by maintaining, assessing, and reflecting upon a learning environment where academic discipline
interweaves with the College mission.

Teach a range of courses from pre-college reading and writing to sophomore level English courses.
Instruction and curriculum. Times, days, and site(s) for teaching of courses vary and modes of
delivery may include distance education technology. It is expected adjunct faculty will utilize the
LMS the College provides. As a multisite college, adjunct faculty may be required to travel to teach
courses for Dine’ College.
Assessment of courses and programs in support of student learning.
Complies with applicable college policies and procedures as mandated in the Dine’ College
Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual, College Catalog, finance and accounting policies, etc.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition. Ph.D. preferred. For
teaching of 100-200 level courses: Minimum of a master degree in the respective discipline with
minimum coursework of 24 credit hours of upper division and/or graduate credit in the discipline to
be taught. Master Degree in English or a related field. For teaching of 300-400 level courses: Doctorate
or master degree in the teaching discipline or master degree with a minimum of 19 graduate semester
hours concentration in a teaching discipline.
A minimum of two years (20 courses) satisfactory or above college teaching experience preferred.

Environment:
Adjunct faculty are expected to have a high degree of oral and written communication skills to
successfully interact with students, support staff, faculty and administrators. This includes
identifying issues, documenting, problem solving, and resolving issues in a positive manner.
Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
An adjunct faculty is expected to have a high degree of proficiency in computer software used
to support the administration of higher education teaching and learning. Software use
includes but is not limited to general office functions such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and
internet usage. In addition, a faculty is expected to utilize academic-specific programs for
course delivery through a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Blackboard Course
maintenance programs used by the College for grade submission and other student recordkeeping functions are also required.
