Roles:
A full-time College faculty is responsible for instruction, assessment, advising, committee work, and service to the College. Other
duties may include grant management, research, or specific academic endeavors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction and curriculum. Times, days, and site(s) for teaching of courses vary and mode of
delivery may include distance education. As a multisite college faculty may be required to
teach at satellite centers.
Assessment of courses and programs
Academic advising and mentoring.
Service on committees
Service to the College through student organization advising, service learning, disappearing
task force, etc.
Other assignments such as grant management, research, or specific academic endeavors.
Perform additional duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Experience:
For reaching of 100-200 level courses: Minimum of a master degree in the respective discipline with
minimum coursework of 24 credit hours of upper division and/or graduate credit in the discipline to
be taught. (PPPM 400.12)
For teaching of 300-400 level courses: Minimum of a master degree, doctorate degree preferred in the
respective discipline with a minimum of 24 credit hours of upper division and/or graduate credit in
the discipline to be taught with demonstration of extension or specialized discipline knowledge. (PPPM
400.12)
Minimum standards for Special Dine’ Scholars Credentials include rigorous testing, validation,
verification, special certification, specialized clinical experience or expertise through wide critical and
public recognition. (PPPM 400.12)
1. A minimum of two years satisfactory or above college teaching or work experience in an
institution of higher education.

Pre-Employment policies as indicated in the Dine’ College Personnel Policies and Procedures
Manual, 300.01, Section F for background verification, and 400.04, Section H.1., for substance
abuse prevention. Upon hiring sixty (60) workdays probationary period from the start of
employment.
During the probationary period the new faculty member will be issued two successive
semesters faculty contract. The faculty:
Shall have no property rights or expectations of renewal or retention upon expiration of each
instructor contract.
Will be evaluated for effectiveness by their supervisor prior to a notification for renewal of
contract.
Will be informed of reasons for non-renewal.
Every faculty shall be credentialed.

Requirements:
A faculty is expected to have a high degree of proficiency in computer software used to support
the administration of higher education. Software use include but is not limited to, general office
functions such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet services. In addition, a faculty is
expected to utilize academic-specific programs for course delivery (face-to-face synchronous,
and asynchronous), and course maintenance (such as grade submission, posting of syllabus,
etc.) As noted, the College has multiple sites: a faculty may be required to travel to any sites to
teach.
Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
