Lane closures – a necessary
part of construction
We recognize lane closures
can be disruptive, but they are
a necessary part of construction
at times. Please use caution
when walking or driving through
a construction area and give
yourself extra time to get to your
destination safely. Thank you, and
we appreciate your understanding.

The transformation of Davis Drive continues
In 2012 we set the groundwork for
rapidway construction, with preliminary
underground infrastructure work.
This year, significant construction activity
will take place along the corridor. Traffic
lanes, sidewalks and bus stops will be
shifting along Davis Drive in order to
relocate infrastructure for hydro, gas,
storm drain, water main, sewer line,
phone and cable.
To complete this work, a lane will be closed
in each direction and, where possible,
a centre emergency services/shared
left-turn lane will be provided. These
changes are an important part of the next
phase of construction, providing workers
sufficient room to work safely.
Crews will also be working on culverts
on the south side of Eastern Creek
[near Southlake Regional Health Centre]
and Western Creek this year.
Talk to us at vivanext.com/blog.
The vivaNext rapidway on Davis Drive in
Newmarket will extend 2.6 kilometres
from Yonge Street to Roxborough Road,
with the viva rapid transit service continuing
eastward in the curb lane to Highway 404.
Rapidway vivastations will be located at
Parkside Drive/Longford Drive, Main Street,
and Southlake Regional Health Centre, and
curb-side vivastations will be located at
Huron Heights Drive and Leslie Street.
The rapidway will bring an exceptional
rapid transit system to the area that will
connect to other parts of York Region
and will benefit
Newmarket
for generations.

Keith Bridge
Yonge Street
The north side of Keith Bridge is scheduled
to be completed at the end of 2013. Traffic
remains routed on the south side of the
bridge and the Tom Taylor trail continues
to be detoured across Davis Drive.
Stay tuned to vivanext.com this summer
to get the latest on the ongoing Keith
Bridge demolition and view the video

Preliminary work
on the Yonge Street
rapidway [from Savage Road to
Davis Drive] is currently underway.
We are planning to award the
construction contract in early 2014.
Businesses are open
during construction
way to go. way to grow.
Union Hotel
The Union Hotel will be set back on the
same property, to preserve it as a reflection
of Newmarket’s rich history. The contract
has been awarded for the relocation of
the Union Hotel and the first stage will
begin this spring. Wonder what it takes
to carefully move historical buildings?
Watch for the video of the Union Hotel
relocation at vivanext.com.
