College of the Redwoods Program Review Committee Executive Summary Adopted November 6, 2009 Mission Statement The College of the Redwoods’ Program Review Committee leads and facilitates authentic assessment as it relates to student success and planning at the institution for all subject and service areas. The committee reviews Annual and Comprehensive Program Reviews that provide the strong foundation upon which College of the Redwoods develops, identifies, states and documents quality improvement plans and goals including providing the direction of prioritization of funding, and support needs as organized under the strategic planning objectives. Objective: To provide an evaluative Executive Summary of this program’s review for authors, the Integrated Planning Committees, and the District. Program Review Subject/Service Area: __Drafting Technology__________________ Program Review Authors: ___Steve Brown_______________________________ Summary and Recommendations: Additional Comments: 1. Program strengths: Retention for DT overall high The program’s full time faculty member (Steve Brown) 2. Program challenges/obstacles: Staffing needed in IR to provide adequate graduate Enrollments fluctuated and were down last year tacking DT 23 had low success rate, but CIS 100 was added as a Facility ventilation in need of repair recommended prep; 3. Commendations: Good Market labor data Commend Steve Brown for being Dean of CTE for a year and running a successful program 4. Program Budget/Funding Sources: Need computers, software training, CAD lab tutor & Recommendations DT program would benefit from a formalized, institutionally led student tracking Program surviving off CTEA funding Need more staffing Need staff development 5. Program Goals/Plans: Well written QIP (Statistics indicate considerable employment growth that could be filled by DT grads) 6. Program Outcomes Assessment (PLOs/SLOs): Well designed assessment and measurable outcomes, Analyzed and addressed measureable outcomes 7. Student Success/Achievement/Basic Skills Provisions have been made for the one course with a obstacles/challenges: low success rate ‐DT 23:CIS 100 was added as a Success Rates high overall recommended prep—time will tell if this improves the course’s success rate. Success rates high for all levels of Engl competency, and some math PRC Recommendation: 1) All programs would benefit from a formalized, institution‐led follow‐up system/tracking of our graduates. 2) Clarification/development of process from grant funded programs/positions to district funding. 3) District‐wide plan for technology and equipment maintenance and replacement.
Process: Completed Executive Summary forms will be sent to program review authors. PRC will forward Executive Summaries to the appropriate integrated planning committees.
