After receiving approval from The University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University Board of Regents today, Cameron selected Midwest Wrecking of Oklahoma City to demolish the existing Business Building which will clear the way for the construction of a new state-of-the-art learning facility. CU officials expect to break ground on the new building in October. “The School of Business is one of Cameron University’s most rapidly expanding educational programs and academic divisions,” President Cindy Ross said. “We are thrilled to provide our students a modern, firstrate facility that will help prepare them to be competitive in the global marketplace.” The Business Building will occupy more than 32,000 gross square feet on the CU campus. Some highlights of the facility will be a 114-seat auditorium, state-of-the-art computer and accounting labs, interaction areas where students can collaborate with other students and faculty, and a career center which holds an interview practice area. “The new Business Building reflects a collaborative learning environment in which students and faculty will mutually benefit,” said Sylvia Burgess, E.D., Dean of the School of Business. “CU students receive a rigorous business education. The benefits of new levels of technology, instruction and peer interaction will allow our graduates to increasingly realize their potential for creating world class enterprises right here in the heart of Southwest Oklahoma.” -more- Business Building, ADD ONE The total cost of the Business Building project will be $7.5 million.
