Dear Kindergarten Families,
We had a very successful first day of school with our full class here. Thank you for
all that you did to make coming to school easy for your child. I am excited about the great
year we have ahead of us.
On Monday and Tuesday we will gather in front of the school and walk in together
as a class. I will slowly encourage the children to learn the way into the school and to our
classroom. Starting on Wednesday, September 2nd, students will need to say their
goodbyes to you outside and enter the building by themselves. Please remember that your
child needs to wear his or her monkey nametag next week. On the back of the nametag,
please include information about how your child should leave kindergarten at the end of
the school day. Please let me know, in writing, if your child’s transportation home
changes.
Be sure that your child brings a backpack to school each day. Include his or her
name, address, phone number, and “way home” inside the backpack. Your child will need
to bring his or her Take Home Folder (green-AM/yellow-PM) back and forth to school
every day. This is a communication tool for parents and teacher. You will use this folder
to write down important information, questions, and concerns and I will do the same. Of
course, feel free to email me as well. Please check your child’s Take Home Folder every
day and return it in your child’s backpack. I will be sending home completed work,
calendars, projects your child has worked on, and many other important pieces of
information throughout the year. I will check the folder daily as well.
My “Mrs. W’s Weekly” newsletter will be posted on my teacher web page
(http://www.dublinschools.net/JillAndrews.aspx) at the end of each week starting next
Friday, September 4th. Be sure that you always read these newsletters. The “Mrs. W’s
Weekly” will contain information about what we have been doing in the classroom as
well as things to expect for the next week.
Curriculum Night will be Thursday, September 3rd from 6:00-6:45pm. AM and PM
kindergarten parents will meet together in the commons. Mrs. Hubert and I will share
lots of important information about our classroom routines, homework, schedule, etc.
This is an adults only meeting. I hope to see you there!
