* This week, we worked on reviewing routines for
our learning workshops. Expectations were set
again to ensure a good learning environment.
* The Sunshines reassessed their individual
* Mrs. Cellar did a lesson on bullying. The kids
goals in reading. Some kids selected a new
goal to work on during their independent
practice time.

* *After reading 3 different versions of THE
MITTEN, the SUNSHINES formed an opinion on
which version they likes the most. They practiced
using their opinion words to formulate their
thoughts.
*This week, we continued practicing different math
skills through daily n umber routines. The
SUNSHINES were challenged to create different
ways to get the same number.
*For our rich problem and homework this week, the
SUNSHINES used the alphabet to create 3 and 4
letter words that were assigned a number value.
They were challenged to use a variety of strategies
to solve which word could create the greatest sum.
After collaborating, the kids reflected on their work
by sharing with their peers.
* We created winter projects after writing about
how we know it is winter.
* We learned about what a resolution is and set our
own goals through a creative project.
Technology
*We finished our quilt work. After reading
several books about patterns and quilts, the
SUNSHINES created their own quilts. They
used their creativity to design their own
patterns.
* The students had
opportunities to publish
their writings on Pixie.
UPCOMING EVENTS AND REMINDERS
* Don’t forget to return your library books.
* Due to flexibility in reading groups and adapting to your child’s
learning needs, your Sunshine will have the opportunity to switch
their “reading at home” books daily. These folders should stay in
your child’s book bags.
* Please continue to check Progress Book for updated information
on your child’s learning.
* There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, January 15th.
