APRIL 11TH-15TH Sunshine Smiles Reading Workshop POETRY Recycling Project This week, the SUNSHINES continued to study POETRY! After rereading poems several times, the SUNSHINES pointed out notices, interesting words, and the author’s purpose. They sketched their mental images. In writing workshop, the SUNSHINES continued to write poetry about a topic of their interest. The SUNSHINES worked to communicate their thinking on how to save the Earth. They reused magazine pages to create the 7 continents on their Earth. Check out the learning that is radiating from the SUNSHINE room this week! Using a variety of materials, they had to persevere and try different strategies to build towers. While monitoring their work, they measured and re-evaluated to grow their towers. Reading * *We continued to study and evaluate poems. * Reading Groups were differentiated through genres and skills. Some groups targeted nonfiction/fiction, while other groups focused deeper on poetry. The SUNSHINES created reading responses and participated in discussions with their accountability partners to share their thinking!
