O’CONNOR’S 3RD GRADE CLASS z Ask A 3rd Grader In Our Class About... z “Queen Addy” and her friend were practicing the properties of addition while playing this math game!! Grippy was a huge hit in our classroom this week! We were super excited about our visitor! nnn We finished the book The Quirks: Welcome to Normal! We practiced how to write a book review and worked on figuring out how to write a well informed opinion about a book. Mrs. O’Connor began meeting with groups of students to assess fluency and check out what books we are reading during independent reading time. Tell someone at home what you are reading! Math Workshop was tricky for many of us this week! We relied on our perseverance and flexibility habits to help us understand that learning strategies to do mental math is not always easy at first! Try solving this problem in your head: 46 - 27. HINT: Try turning 27 into the closest landmark/island/group of 10 number before you start to solve the problem! In Writing Workshop and Word Study we focused on: nouns, pronouns, verbs and adjectives. Can you write the past and future tense of the verb “stop?” How can using pronouns help to make your reading and writing more interesting? Tell somebody about the website “Wonderopolis!” What did you explore on it this week?
