As we come to the the end of the school year,
We give you thanks

In the work of our school this year,
And ask you to bless us all in your love.

Principal’s Message
Thank you so much to everyone for a fantastic school year. If you are able, please join us, for our year end mass
taking place on June 10th at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish.
At the end of the year its appropriate to say “thanks” to a few of our community members who make each day a
delight - here they are:

in all sorts of weather to cheerfully complete their duties


To our valued secretary, Mrs. Carabetta, who - like her name -takes everyone under her wing and cares so
deeply for our community. She greets everyone with a smile and a problem solving attitude~ thanks to her

damaged items must also be paid by this date.

Transportation 2015/2016
Transportation is provided for students who live too far from St. Joseph to walk to school. The transportation department
regularly issues eligibility to transport regulations that vary from Grade to Grade as well as “hazards” ie. Crossing a
busy road. Transportation will be building these lists from the home address - or babysitter address, if specified -or the
address we currently have listed in Trillium.
Any students who are flex boundary students, parents and guardians are responsible for transportation to St. Joseph as
it states on the flex boundary letter you receive each year. Please be advised:

School Council Elections 2015/2016
Elections for the 2015/2016 School Council will take place in September in accordance with School Council
elections. We always need TONS of help so if you are available, please come out to our meetings.
Our first meeting of the year will be held Tuesday, September 29 at 6:30 pm in the Literacy Room.

Cones for all the kids who
come to the rest station.
Also - Mr. B is going to help Mr.
Abbas to grill HOT DOGS! And
everyone will get a hot dog funded
by our own Parent Council.

Goodbye and We’ll Miss You !!! ...And Welcome….
A sad goodbye to Mr. Sawa in Grade 2/3 - he did an awesome job. Mr. Sawa was always willing to coach
our kids and participated in Faith Ambassadors and ran the choir this year. Our students will miss you
so much. A happy welcome back to Mrs. Scaffidi who is back after her parental leave.
There will be some more changes in staffing to come - we will keep you informed as
they develop - stay tuned.
Congratulations to all our Grade 2 students
who received their Sacrament of the Eucharist...the parents put on a lovely lunch to celebrate our First Holy Communion.

Before and After School Programs
PLASP Child Care Services operates Before and After School Programs at this school.
The Before School Program operates from 7:30 a.m. until school start. A nutritious breakfast is served daily.
The After School Program runs from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m. Children participate in recreational activities, are served a nutritious snack daily and have time for homework.
Fee assistance is available for those who qualify.

GIRLS NITE IN!!!!
On May 28 the Girls Club hosted Girls Night In for girls in gr 4-7 and their moms or another female relative. It was a
wonderful evening including belly dancing, calligraphy and a wonderful teaching chef Erica helped us make our own
Taco Dinners. A special thank you to everyone involved: Ms. Dina, Mrs. Krolewski, Mrs. Tabar, Mrs. Mousa, Mrs.
Snopek, Mrs. Pinelli and Mrs. Russell. Thank you to all the girls and moms who participated!

Mark Your Calendars: September 23, Curriculum Night
On Wednesday, September 23 at 5:30 p.m. we will be holding our annual Curriculum Night and
Barbeque for St. Joseph School.
Please attend if you are able! More information will be coming in the first few weeks of September.
WARM WEATHER DRESS CODE
As the warm weather approaches we would like to remind students that they are expected to
dress in a manner and attire suitable for the occasion and appropriate to the school environment.
Boys must wear full length ‘T’ shirts with a sleeve (no muscle shirts or cut offs). Girls are not to wear
anything strapless, spaghetti straps, or have bare midriffs. Outfits that are appropriate for small
children may not be appropriate for older children. Shorts are permitted for both boys and girls
provided they are modest. No short-shorts or jean cutoffs will be allowed.
Bread and Honey Festival in Streetsville June 5, 6 & 7
