Mrs. Angela Rowe & Mr. Dave Miller November 20, 2015 Reading & Writing Workshop This week in reading workshop we started a new unit working with comparing and contrasting multiple characters, settings, and events in a story. We spent some time looking at the standard and thinking about what we already knew, what we needed to learn, and what connections we could make between what we knew and needed to learn. Math Workshop This week in math we started our discussion on multiplying whole numbers with decimals. This will eventually lead into multiplying numbers with two decimals. For example, we talked about how comparing and contrasting means to identify similarities and differences. In writing workshop, we spent the week free writing and applying what we have learned in our narratives unit to our writing. Some students wrote poetry focusing on descriptive word choice and stories adding dialogue. Social Studies This week in Social Studies, we worked on learning and creating multiple tier timelines. Word Study This week in word study we completed our unit on “ped” and “pod.” We also started our new unit on “tempor” and “chron.” Important Dates to Know Nov. 25-27: No school Thanksgiving Break Dec. 7-18: Book Fair @ IRE Dec. 18: Holiday Party Dec. 21 – Jan. 1: Winter Break
