News From Mrs. Rowe and Mr. Miller We have been busy in the classroom this week. Students have been immersing themselves in their learning from wonder work to math and science to poetry reading. Mrs. Angela Rowe & Mr. Dave Miller January 29, 2016 Reading & Writing Workshop This week in reading workshop, students have been taking some of their independent reading Math Workshop In math workshop we are studying solid figures and volume. This time to immerse themselves in the world of poetry. They are reading a variety of styles and have been week, students took some working on a list of things that they notice as they time to look for different read and things that they are wondering about solid figures in the building poetry. We will launch our learning focus next week from these notice and wonders. In writing workshop, students have been continuing to work on their research writing. We spent this week talking about how to write an introduction and a conclusion to our essays. This drafting work will continue into next week with some students ready to begin revising and editing. Science This week in science our focus has been learning about ecosystems. Students started growing and caring for their own cup of grass. They also created food chains that you can see hanging in the hallway. and measure them. They created structures to solve for volume as well. Word Study This week in word study we completed our Greek and Latin root unit on dif, dis, and di (meaning not). The assessment took place on Thursday.
