News From Mrs. Rowe and Mr. Miller Please note the dates and times for the end of the year fifth grade events below. These times are corrected from the IRE news that went out earlier this week. We also want to remind you of our testing days next week. Students will be taking the AIR Language Arts Tests on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. These tests start first thing each day. We are thinking about opinion writing in the real world. From there, students are working in small groups to create a project based on an opinion (i.e. commercial, ad, billboard, debate). Social Studies This week in Social Studies we continued our learning about explorers. We learned about a specific explorer, Christopher Columbus. We read about him and gathered additional information through a documentary. Word Study This week in word study we completed our Greek and Latin root unit over “cracy” and “crat” (meaning rule of government). We also introduced a new root: “phobe” and “phobia” (meaning fear of).
