News From Mrs. Rowe and Mr. Miller This week we had a busy week working on projects and wrapping up some units in the classroom. Next week, students will take two parts of Math and two parts of Science on April 26-29. Our daily schedule will be adjusted on these four days to accommodate this testing. On Friday, students will be watching the movie Where the Red Fern Grows as a culminating event of our reading and thinking about the book together. April 22, 2016 Reading & Writing Workshop In reading workshop students have been working on their independent reading projects (IRP) that Mrs. Angela Rowe & Mr. Dave Miller Math Workshop In math workshop we started a unit on geometry. We learned about we developed together. They have about a month polygons, angles, and to read a book of their choosing and creatively triangles. We also did some show some of their thinking (i.e. compare and contrast, word connotation/denotation, concept review for the perspective, main idea and supporting details, upcoming state next test next reflective writing, narrative writing, etc.). The components of this project were selected by week. students and based on big ideas we have learned about this school year. In writing workshop, students have been hard at work on their group opinion/argumentative writing. Check out our class Twitter for pictures of this work from this week and in the coming weeks (@IRESRowe). Social Studies In Social Studies, we wrapped up our unit on explorers. Students were placed in a group where they are presenting on different explorers and teaching their classmates. Word Study This week in word study, we wrapped up our unit on Phobe and Phobia. The tests were taken on Tuesday. We then started a unit on Ate and Ation. Students have been developing a list and thinking about what these roots might mean this week.
