Title V Staff members continue to focus on Year 1 Grant Objectives:
1) (To) Develop a Wildland Fire Science AAS/Certificate; and
2) (To) Develop new Online Admissions and Registration systems, to include Online Advisement.
From the Project Manager:
The Title V Staff welcomes Cindy Holder to the campus as the new Director of Student Services! We
have met with Cindy in regard to online services developed by the Grant to this point, and we look
forward to working with her throughout the grant
The Title V Steering Committee met on the 26th to review timelines and Performance Indicators, and the
Internal Monitoring Team met again May 27th to review progress on meeting Objectives.
Update on the Title V Interim Performance Report: We received no corrections or additional information
requests from the Program Officer in regard to our Performance Report!
Most importantly, we are pleased to announce that ENMU-Ruidoso has received notification that the
continuation award has been made for Year 2 (10/1/2015 – 09/30/2016) for the Title V Grant!
Development of the WFS Program (Sara Karabelski and Rich Dolphin):
The Instructional Designer (ID) and Wildland Fire Science Specialist (WFSS) have completed 70% of
the supply orders for the first year of the grant, which is on schedule to be completed by June 2015. In
addition, the grant requested an upgrade of the original sand table listed in the budget to an
All Hazards Simtable. We were treated to an exciting presentation of what the table could do in regard to
training for our WFS students. We recently received approval for that purchase, and we are all excited to
get that ordered and in place! Additionally, Rich has been working on making changes to WFS course
titles and course numbers to bring them more in line with NWCG standards. Thank you to Amy
Bertramsen (IR) for her assistance in helping us with these changes so that we remain in compliance. We
are all thankful to have Tonia Ashby (Title V AD) back with us, and we want to give a big “Thank You”
to Jeannie Trujillo for her assistance in helping us with requisitions while Tonia was out.
Development of Online Services (Juanita Garcia):
We so appreciate the time and effort put forth by Jim Weinman (Director of Information Services) for
further development of Mobile-Friendly icons for mobile devices for easier access to ENMU Ruidoso
webpages. As well, Amy Betramsen continues to donate her time, along with Jim, to meet with the SIG
consultant to determine further services needed for MyENMU Portal page. We continue to monitor Live
Chat and troubleshoot and resolve issues by working with Jim and Live Help Now Consultants. We also
continue to monitor and further develop data processes, through collaboration with Amy, the Portales
Application Developer, and with Jim. We thank Coda Omness, Director of PR, for the great work she has
done with the webpage design—we couldn’t have done it without her.
We truly appreciate the campus employees, Dr. Alred, and the ENMU College Board support. There have
been very few issues to have come up the first 7 months of the grant, and they have been quickly solved
because of this support.
Many thanks to those of you who work in the background and might not think we notice, but we do! A
great example is front desk personnel—we appreciate the warm smiles from Janet, Verna, and the eager
work study students, especially on dreary, rainy days
As always, the Title V Office door is open if you should want to drop by and visit any of us about the
grant.
