SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Notes 6/01/09 Notes provided by Burley (richard.j.burley@nasa.gov), Biagetti (biagetti@stsci.edu, and others as indicated. - Summary: Observatory and instruments continue to perform nominally and according to plan. COS NUV High-Voltage ramp-up is underway. The STIS mechanism functional has checked out nominally. The first FGS2 observations have taken place as the initial part of the AMA adjustment process. - Observatory Status o PCS/SAC Nominal, no new issues. DSmith. o EPS o TCS o I&C o DMS Nominal. SKrol. The load is centered around 73A and the system SOC is slowly continuing to increase and reached 510Ah in the last orbit. The battery temperatures remain low ranging between -4 and -1.0 deg C with excursions to just below 0 deg C when the redundant heater cycles on (once every 24 hour period). EPS is closely monitoring the system as HST enters a beta peak that will result in extended orbit day durations up to 69 minutes on DOY 158. Nominal. JAbel Monitoring and addressing equipment shelf temperature limits. Nominal Nominal. SSands. One SSR science dump and one engineering dump which include quick-turnaround data scheduled in the next 24 hours. o 486FSW Nominal o SAFING Nominal. EMoy. RMGA power-on at 2:45 today. o SIC&DH & P/L FSW Nominal 3 SBEs since yesterday - SI Status -- 4 instruments up in Operate o WFC3 Engineering • Nominal • No commanding planned during the next week • Waiting on PI decision to proceed with normal operations after 21-day Protect period o COS o Science • No change. Engineering. SSwain. • Status o Operate/FUV Operate o Vacuum gauge ~4.5e-6 torr o Initial NUV turn-on and first 3 HV ramps completed o OR 18465-0 successfully completed to clear COS event flag 2 to allow NUV commanding between parts 1 and 2 • Forward Plan o OR to be submitted to clear COS event flag 2 between parts 2 and 3 for the NUV HV ramp o To be submitted in coordination with STScI before ~152/16:29 UTC NUV Fold Test scheduled for 154/17:50 UTC Science • Nothing to add. FGS/OTA Engineering (ABradley, L Abramowicz-Reed) • All hardware nominal, there are no new HSTARs. • There were 9 GSACQs (Guide star pairs) spanning the previous 24 hours, all were successful. • FGS 2 was used in Astrometry TRANS Mode 7 times, in preparation for the AMA move on June 2. TRANS are in Clear and Pupil filters and at 3 widely different position of the FOV. o FGS2 working very well. • Morgan and Wenz would like to present the charts tomorrow and discuss the upcoming AMA move after the SMOV morning meeting. Up-coming 24 hours: • 5 GSACQs (Guide star pairs) and 2 sets of TRANS Mode scans with FGS 2 are planned over the next 24 hours. • There is also 1 FGS 2 ITS test in support of the AMA move. Science • Nothing to add. • The new FGS has successfully acquired stars in a crowded field, as part of the initial FGS2R AMA adjustment activity (proposal 11458). • Linda will have further results, including more information on field dependencies, later today. o ACS o STIS Engineering. SSwain. • Status; Operate/SBC LV o Nominal. o WFC Optimization Campaign (OC) analysis is ongoing. Expect further results later today. o All temperatures and voltages nominal • Forward Plan o Update to ASIC FSW values needed based on analysis of initial Oscilloscope data Plan for update to be presented at SMOV morning meeting ~Tuesday o Oscilloscope mode optimization iteration 2 scheduled to start at 154/00:15 UT. o Second End BEA check scheduled 156/06:32 UTC Science (DGolimowski) • OC analysis is ongoing. Engineering . SSwain. Status Operate/MAMAs 1&2 LVOn (SAA cycling) Mech functional appears all nominal MEB 1 Temperature (OMBT1) continues to flag high intermittently (~30.7 degC) • HSTAR 11855 written to document limit violation. o MEB1 temp up another count, 4 degrees to safing limit. o Appears to be running 5 degrees warmer than previously, and higher than predicted. o All voltages and currents are nominal. Safing limit 34.7 degC Mechanism Functional Test completed 152/01:20 – 02:20 UTC • Results? Forward Plan • CCD Anneal 153/04:00 UTC st • 1 FUV MAMA HV turn-on 153/11:35 UTC Science. CProffitt. • The STIS mechanism • functional successfully executed this morning o including movements of the STIS CCD shutter, the operation of which had not been verified during the FT due to a commanding error. Over the next few days, a substantial portion of STIS CCD SMOV proposals will execute. o Tonight the pre-anneal internal observations will be taken o Wednesday post-anneal observations CCD functional test checkout of apertures and lamps o - - CTI checks (including data for the B-amp that showed anomalous behavior during the FT) first external observations taken to verify the STIS-to-FGS alignment. NICMOS/NCS No change P&S Status o Calendar/SMS builds (No change) 09159 – Final TDRS work is completing today. 09166 – Rebuild, with STIS replan, will start tomorrow. o Replans None Operations o o FOT Nominal o PACOR (BPatel) There were no SMOV fast-track activities to support for Pacor-A from May 31 (8am) to June 1 (8am). Routine data processing is continuing as normal. OPUS & Archive
