Request #18442, VDT Macro Execution, started. Vehicle control law gains changed and monitoring underway as of 143/12:05. Expect completion of VDT

Ops Request at 144/01:30.

--VDT ends late tonight, 144/0130z Flash after first successful Acq.

-- All good and nominal.

- TCS; All nominal. All on predictions.

- I&C; Nominal

- DMS;

-- Nominal. Just prior to VDT, all of the SSR engineering data were played back, and the continuous engineering record mode was started to support the VDT. It will end the continuous engineering mode @ 144/01:26:00 at the end of the VDT.

-- Next Engineering Record Playback is @ 144/02:05

-- ACS rate check science data is scheduled to be playback @ 145/16:50

- 486FSW; Nominal

- SAFING; Nominal.

- SIC&DH & P/L FSW;

-- Nominal. 22 SBE, 2 since yesterday.

SI Status

=======

- WFC3

-- Still in safe

-- Continuing to monitor the WFC3 thermal system for any additional adjustments.

-- Stored commanding instructions have modified to lower the CEB and DEB safing limits (RIU and SES) in the transition up to Operate for DOY 145. Test

SMS successfully validated changes in VSTIF with the Ops Bench on 22 May

-- Forward Plan

--- Recovery to Operate and memory dumps on DOY 145 (May 25)

--- OR 18444-1 submitted to reset WFC3 OBCP and VCHP setpoints to their current values (19.8 and 14.8 degC) following recovery

-- Contingency Draft ORs; 658-0 submitted to initiate Suspend if memory dumps appear anomalous

- COS;

-- Memory dumps were played back from the SSR around 142/14:00 UTC (9:00 am EDT). Mike Kelly reports that all COS week 1 memory dumps done yesterday have been verified, and results are nominal.

-- Current status; Operate/FUV Operate

-- Vacuum gauge ~5.9e-6 torr, rising slightly as temperature increases.

--- See attached Door Opening pressure plot (ppt)

-- Pressure requirements summary (per J. Bacinski)

--- 100 microTorr – FUV door opening

--- 20 microTorr – MAMA HV operations

--- 10 microtorr – FUV HV and Lamp operations

--- 5 microtorr – FUV HV operation limitation, (informational only)

-- OR 18436-2 to open the FUV door was successfully completed at 142/15:22

UTC

--- All power and position telemetry nominal

--- Very small increases in the COS internal and ESM TPS pressures observed

(see following plot)

-- Forward Plan

--- Science Data Buffer verification on DOY 145

-- Contingency Draft ORs; 657-1 submitted to initiate Suspend if memory dumps appear anomalous

- FGS/OTA;

-- Previous 24 hours:

--- All hardware nominal,

--- There were 5 GSACQs spanning the previous 24 hours, all were successful.

--- The FGS-2R2 ITS observation at 142:11:48 has been analyzed and the results are given on attached slides.

-- ITS Test Results:

--- This ITS test was performed using SMS commanding. The ITS acquisitions performed during the SM Functional tests used different real time commanding.

--- This is the same SMS commanding that will be used to verify AMA motion during the AMA optimization proposal.

--- This commanding performs 3 different observations on the Internal Test

Source (ITS)

---- A Fine Lock acquisition is done.

---- A LOS scan is done.

---- A TRANS mode scan is done.

--- The only information that is used during the AMA optimization proposal is coming from the Fine Lock acquisition. The LOS and TRANS mode data is not used.

---- HSTAR for no Y-axis s-curve in TRANS mode."

--- The position of the ITS and the Coarse Track to Fine Lock bias was calculated from this observation and compared to the data taken during the AMA Functional test.

---- The data shows that there was very little change between the two observations and that there should be no problems with the ITS observations during the AMA optimization activities.

-- Up-coming 24 hours:

--- 2 GSACQs are planned over the next 24 hours.

-- See attached ppt for more FGS/OTA details

- ACS

-- Change to proposal 11510 requested (CTE Check).

--- SMOV TTRB notified

--- Mal Niedner will pursue with Linda Smith.

--- PIT meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

-- Depending on results of Anneal analysis, Linda may request a decrease in the

CCD temperature setpoint.

-- ACS is currently in WFHROper

--- Both TEC are disabled

--- Event Flag 8 Set to block WFC turn on

--- Event Flag 9 Set to block HRC turn on

-- HRC Backpower disabled

--- Event Flag 7 Set to block HRC Backpowering

--- Will remain set until HRC commanding can be removed

-- All temperatures, voltages and currents are still behaving well.

--- Total current has decreased slightly as ACS and Aftshroud warms up.

--- CEB-R temperatures look good

--- Running a little cooler than old WFC CEB.

-- EDAC, EEPROM, PROM, MIE RAM, MIE PROM and ASIC RAM collect on

142/10:20.

--- All memory as expected, no issues.

-- FORWARD PLAN

-- Day 145 -- Science Data Buffer Check and ASIC Timing Pattern update (JSCR

414)

-- Day 146 -- WFC TEC enabled

-- See attached ppt file for details

- STIS;

-- “The Program and Project offices met with Randy Kimble this morning to review the conclusions of the tiger team evaluating the high bias signal associated with STIS CCD Charge Amplifier B. The meeting concluded with acceptance of the team's recommendation to proceed with the transition of STIS to Operate and the initiation of the STIS SMOV program, as currently planned in the coming week. We thank the members of the tiger team for their focused and expert efforts. The team may regard its job completed and many disband. No further investigation of the high bias anomaly is presently contemplated. That decision, of course, will be revisited if warranted by future developments.” K.

Kalinowski 5/22/09 email

-- STScI IS thanks the Tiger Team for job well done.

- NICMOS; No change from yesterday, all nominal.

- P&S Status;

-- Calendar/SMS builds;

--- FDF deliveries are back to the normal once per week 10-week ephem and

Monday/Wednesday/Friday 11-day ephem.

-- 09.145 was delivered yesterday afternoon.

-- 09.152 calendar is in work. PASS processing will start Tuesday with delivery expected to be on Thursday.

-- Replans

--- Approved STIS delay is in work.
