SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Notes
6/10/09
Notes provided by Burley (richard.j.burley@nasa.gov), Biagetti (biagetti@stsci.edu, and others as
indicated.
- Summary
Spacecraft subsystems continue to operate nominally. WFC3 is preparing
for detector cooldown over the next two days. The COS FUV high-voltage ramp-up
continues according to plan. The first COS NUV external observation is scheduled for this
evening. All internals continue to look good. Outside of ongoing analyses and ground
system updates, the SMOV for FGS2R is complete. The ACS Vod Tiger Team recommends
resumption of ACS SMOV. The STIS NUV MAMA recovery continues. STIS CCD
performance meets expectations and the CCD has been cleared for resumption of GO
Science.

• BEA period has completed after 21 days following HST Orbiter
release, (~ GMT 160/13:05)
• OPS request 18499-2 was executed to reset the 486 and PSEA to
their nominal configuration
o Command the aperture door closed only for specific
safemode event.
o Prior to Orbiter release for BEA, the Safing subsystem was
configured to protect against UV entering the boresight by
closing the door for any safemode event.
o At GMT 160/13:51:56, following availability of H-format, IP160, section B was executed to remove from SMAC 00 the
MCU motor operate commands from the 486 safemode
macro
o At GMT 130/13:58:01, PSEA configuration was reset to not
close the aperture door if HWSP entry occurs in daylight as
well as ground limit adjustments completed.

• CCD
o CCD performance close to expectations
 Mean T somewhat higher than anticipated, giving
20-30% higher median dark
 Rather more hot pixels than expected.
 Read noise slightly higher 5.6 vs 5.3
 CTE approximately as projected
o Tungsten, LINE, HITM1, and HITM2 function as before
 fluxes within a few percent
o Focus, external, & internal alignments do not appear to have
changed
o GO Science and ERO observations are enabled
 First visits will schedule no earlier than SMS173
(June 22)
• NUV MAMA HV Recovery Visit 2 (11351) completed.
o This is the first stage of the HV ramp-up.
o All telemetry during the ramp-up was nominal
o Images taken during the visit were blank, as expected for
this voltage level.
o We are clear to proceed with the next stage.
• FUV MAMA darks were taken last night.
o These are a series of exposures taken over a full SAA-free
interval.
o Three of the five darks taken are available in the archive
 the other two are still pending.
 The first three look as expected.
o some evidence of the expected enhancement of the dark
current as a function of HV on-time
