FRIDAY EVENINGS DURING LENT: The upper
church will be available for anyone who would like
to pray the Stations of the Cross privately. Following
the 5:30 Mass, members of the Hispanic community
will be praying the Stations, so the upper church will
be open from 6:15 to 7:00 or so. Copies of various
versions of the Stations will be on the table as you
enter the upper church from the lower level (no other
upper church doors will be unlocked).

ECUMENICAL PRAYER AND REFLECTION - March 19th not only marks the Feast Day of St. Joseph,
man of peace, it is also the Fifth Year Anniversary of the Iraq War, the third longest war in American
history.

SOCK DRIVE: All month, we'll be collecting new, white cotton socks, as well as new shower

PLANNING AHEAD: Our Shattuck Springtime Meal is set for Sunday, April 13th. This
year, we’ll have sign-ups for food donations and crew work on two weekends (instead of the

CALLING ALL INSTRUMENTALISTS If you are an
experienced instrumentalist of any age, and
would like to join an ensemble, we have
one for you! The St. Ignatius Symphonia
plays the first Sunday of each month,
October through June, (and a few other
liturgies throughout the season) at the
Noon Mass, with rehearsal at 11:00 am the day of the
Mass at which they play. Music is sent to members

COMING TO SAINT IGNATIUS
Internationally known composer and clinician John
Bell will be coming on Friday, April 18th to St.
Ignatius and All Saints Church, Brookline. He is well
known
for
his
spirited
presentations
on
congregational singing and social justice and his
music is a part of our song repertoire here at St.
Ignatius. John will present at Saint Ignatius at 2pm
for those interested in musical leadership, and at
7PM at All Saints Church on Beacon St., Brookline for
a high energy evening of singing and philosophizing
open to all. Donation at the door is $15 per session or
$25 for both. We are looking for someone who might
be able to drive John to Storrs, CT. after the evening
session in exchange for free attendance. Contact

VOICE OF THE FAITHFUL – Fr. Walter Cuenin will
address the Newton area Voice of the Faithful at Our
Lady’s on Thursday, March 13th at 7:30 pm in the
Furlong Room in the Lower Church. Fr. Cuenin will
discuss the most recent figures of age and future
projections for vocations in the presbyterate, as well
as aspects of the study recently done which shows
the psychological condition of the priest. For more

our faith as a community on Sunday, April 6 from 8:45am – 11am. Traditional class will not be held that

THE SACRAMENTS
BAPTISM
Adults are baptized at the Easter Vigil as part of the Rites of Christian Initiation for
Adults. Infant and child baptisms are by arrangement.
FIRST EUCHARIST
Preparation occurs in Grade 2 and includes classes, retreat and home instruction.
CONFIRMATION
Our Confirmation program begins in the 9th grade. Students are confirmed in the
Spring of the 10th grade. Young adults who have been catechized but are not yet
confirmed should contact the rectory for an alternative program.
MATRIMONY
Must be registered as a parishioner six months prior to beginning Marriage
arrangements.
RECONCILIATION
Saturdays 3:15 - 3:45 PM Upper Church or by arrangement
ANOINTING OF THE SICK by arrangement.
