R EGISTRATION FOR F AITH F ORMATION FOR 2008-2009

Registration for the 2008 – 2009 academic year has begun. While registration will continue through the beginning of September, the earlier you register, the easier it is for us to plan for the fall .

This year, when you register, if you have a child who will be receiving a sacrament in 2008-2009, we would ask that you fill out a separate sacramental registration form when you fill out your registration form for the program. We have had some trouble with our numbers this year for sacramental preparation, and we are hopeful that this step will help us to keep a better record of who is in our community and intends to prepare for receiving a sacrament in 2009 .

In order to keep our information as accurate as possible and to plan for the upcoming year, we will have the following available:

 Registration Form for 2008 – 2009 Faith Formation Program

 Registration for the parish (if not already completed)

 Sacramental Registration forms (First Reconciliation/First Eucharist OR Confirmation)

 Sign up sheets for the following: Volunteering as a catechist

C LASSES OCCUR ON S UNDAYS AT THE FOLLOWING TIMES :

Pre-school 10am – 11am (during the 10am liturgies)

Kindergarten – Grade 5 8:45 – 9:45am

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Confirmation (Grades 9-10)

11:00 – 12:30 on alternate Sundays

11:15 – 12:30, each Sunday

Arts-Based Program 11:00 – 12:30 on alternate Sundays

The Arts-Based Program has been running at St. Ignatius for over a decade. Led by a dedicated team of adults, children in grades K-5 learn together through large group instruction and small-group art-based workshops

(including drawing, painting, drama, and photography). Children demonstrate their understanding of our curriculum through these elective projects. The program also includes one family retreat in the fall.

C ALLING A LL V OLUNTEERS !

It’s never to early for our office to begin asking for help – and we need yours for the upcoming academic year. Our program serves the needs of children and young adults from pre-school through high school, and we need dedicated, caring adults to help lead and mentor our students into and through their faith formation. Volunteer catechists spend approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours each week teaching and roughly an equivalent amount of time preparing lessons. Each class has two adult teachers and approximately 12 –

15 students, and classes, which follow a set curriculum, run from September to May. Anyone who is interested in volunteering should contact Amy Chapman at chapmaab@bc.edu

or 617.552.6103.

C ATHOLIC G AY AND L ESBIAN C ONCERNS In an effort to facilitate conversation for our Gay and

Lesbian parishioners, as well as parents and family

We strongly urge our parishioners and visitors not to leave their belongings in the pew when they leave to members of Gay and Lesbian Catholics, we are providing an informal context in which people feel free to talk about their questions and concerns. Please call

Fr. Bob at the rectory or email frvereec@bc.edu receive Communion. Please take them with you .
