The 5:30 Sunday contemporary ensemble gathers every Sunday afternoon at 4:45 in the church and is open to all singers. The Latino Coro sings every Sunday at the Spanish liturgy at noon in the lower church. They meet at 11:15 am before the Mass and rehearse every other Thursday evening. Please contact Michael Burgo for more information at 552-6108 or burgo@bc.edu. LITTLE ROCK BIBLE GROUP - “The Remnant Group” meets Wednesdays in the Lannon Chapel from 7:15 pm – 8:30 pm. Look Up and See In ancient times, art and architecture was used in churches to teach and inspire the faithful. Our church continues that tradition, using stone, wood and glass. You are invited to take a new look at our church, to see its beauty and to allow it to deepen your faith. On either side of the sanctuary is a set of three windows. In a band of ornament above each set of windows, carved and accented with gold leaf, is the motto of the Jesuit Order, "Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam", For the Greater Glory of God. Above, crosses, carved with the initials “IHS”, appear on the ceiling of the sanctuary. The three windows on the Epistle (Commonwealth Avenue) side of the sanctuary recall the three sacrifices of the Old Testament that prefigured the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The window nearest the altar portrays the Patriarch Abraham preparing to sacrifice Isaac in obedience to God's command. Here, too, is pictured the angel divinely sent to stay the hand of Abraham, since God was only testing Abraham's willingness to obey. The center window of the group presents the sacrifice of Melchisedech, the first priest mentioned in the Bible to offer bread and wine. The last window on this side depicts the slaying of the Paschal Lamb. In the background of this window is seen a family seated at the table while the father is painting the doorpost with the blood of the lamb to escape the avenging hand of God. The first window on the Gospel side (nearest the parking lot) of the sanctuary presents Moses viewing the descent of the manna which God sent from heaven to feed the Israelites. The middle window shows Christ blessing the bread at the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. The third window depicts the disciples at the supper table at Emmaus when they recognized Our Lord in the breaking of the bread.
