Got Credit?

Fall Back On Your

Credit Union

Welcome to autumn, when back-to-school expenses collide head on with vacation credit card bills. Old Man

Whatever you need a loan for, you can

FALL back on your

CREDIT UNION

Winter is lurking just around the corner, and those energy efficiency improvements you’ve been delaying need your attention. Expenses for holiday shopping, entertaining, and travel will soon make an appearance as well. You may need a little help from your friends at the credit union. Our low-interest loans will get you back on track. We have rates and terms to fit your budget. For example, if your retail store credit cards carry an interest rate of 20 percent or more, you’ll save big with a consolidation loan. A home equity loan is an ideal way to increase the livability of your home now and help maintain its future value. A personal loan for holiday expenses can save you money. Determine your holiday budget and borrow that amount; then you can pay cash instead of using a credit card. Money experts agree that paying cash helps limit the temptation to overspend. Whatever your need for credit, you’ll find it at the credit union. Call or stop by today.

FALL 2014 EDITION

International Credit

Union Day Marks “Local

Service. Global Good.”

Time to celebrate

International Credit Union

Day - Thursday, October

16th! “Local Service.

Global Good.” is this year’s theme, emphasizing the positive impact credit unions make in their communities and throughout the world.

Observed annually on the third Thursday of

October since 1948, ICU Day is a day set aside to reflect on the history of credit unions and the role they play in improving the quality of life for millions of members worldwide. This year’s theme highlights the efforts credit unions make on behalf of charitable causes at the local, national and international levels, helping make the world a better place. The World Council of Credit Unions is asking that a tally of all fundraising projects conducted in conjunction with ICU Day be kept to show just how much “global good” credit unions do. As memberowned, not-for-profit financial cooperatives, credit unions are dedicated to the philosophy of peoplehelping-people. To find out how you can help celebrate ICU Day, contact the credit union today.

And you can find out about celebrations worldwide by using #ICUDay on Twitter.

Thank You

VOLUNTEERS

“Not for profit, not for charity, but for service” has long been a credit union mantra. That philosophy is exemplified by our dedicated volunteers who serve on the credit union’s committees and board of directors, and for that, we are grateful. As volunteers, they contribute their time and talents in service to members. Unlike the directors at a bank, who are compensated (often handsomely) and watch out only for the bank’s shareholders, your credit union’s directors have only the interest of you (our member/owners) in mind. As careful stewards of the funds entrusted to the credit union, they base their decision-making on what’s best for all members, not a select few. Elected by fellow members, the board is responsible for the long-term success of the credit union. Thank you to our volunteers! You are part of what makes the credit union unique.

Important Message About

Christmas Clubs

November 11 marks Veterans Day, the official day on which we honor all those who have served in the U.S. Armed

Forces. On this day, celebrations and sentiments are devoted to expressing deep gratitude and appreciation to all living veterans for their service. Events across the country, most notably a wreath-laying ceremony at the Arlington National

Cemetery, help commemorate this important federal holiday.

In 2001, November 11-17 was also deemed National Veterans

Awareness Week, a time dedicated to teaching young people about the contributions and sacrifices of veterans. It is so important during this time of year, and each and every day, to remember that “freedom is not free.” Please take a moment to thank the dedicated military members (past, present, and future) who have given so much to preserve the liberties we enjoy every day in America. We salute you!

Christmas Club balances will be automatically deposited into either your credit union share account or into your credit union checking account on the night of November 1.

saving is The Key To a secure Future

Even when the economy is booming, it can be difficult to save. When it’s in the doldrums, you may think it’s impossible.

The fact is tough times make it even more important to save.

Having funds to fall back on in an emergency or to make a special purchase is a key way to avoid taking on more debt by running up high interest credit card bills. Here are time-tested ways to save:

* Use payroll deduction or automatic transfers - what you don’t see, you don’t miss.

* Each day, toss your pocket change in a jar. When it’s full, bring it to the credit union for deposit.

* Add to special accounts for specific purposes, for example, designate a savings account at the credit union for your vacation fund or for a down payment on your next vehicle.

* When you pay off a loan, continue making the payments, but to yourself.

The Last Word

Challenges make life interesting. Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.
