Annual Meeting
Plan now to attend the credit union’s annual
meeting. It’s your chance to review the past year’s
accomplishments and ask questions. Be the first to
learn about new products and service enhancements
on tap for the future. Visit with the board of directors,
credit union management and staff, as well as your
fellow members. Enjoy refreshments, too.
The annual meeting is a credit union tradition - one
you likely won’t experience at a stock-held financial
institution. Other financial institutions restrict
attendance at their annual meetings to their executives,
board members, and stockholders. But because your
credit union is a financial cooperative, attending the
annual meeting is one of your rights as a memberowner. It’s one of the many benefits of belonging to
the credit union - we hope to see you there.
Nomination Procedures for the
2014 Annual Meeting,
March 18, 2013
The Nominating Committee for the 2014 Credit
Union Annual Meeting was appointed in October
2013. The Committee filed its nominations with the
secretary of the credit union on December 17, 2013.
A brief statement of qualifications was included
for each nominee submitted by the Nominating
Committee. Nominations for vacancies may also
be made by petition signed by 1% of the members.
Each nominee by petition must submit a similar
statement of qualifications with the petition.
Nominations by petition must be filed with the
secretary of the credit union at least 40 days before
the annual meeting. There will be no nominations
from the floor.

If you are in need of the credit union, but are not in the
area… check out either a CO-OP Shared branch or look for
a CO-OP ATM. With nearly 30,000 ATMS and 5,000
CO-OP SHARED BRANCHES located nationwide and in
twelve other countries, your money is readily accessible to you
without any FEES!
You can download the app for “CO-OP SHARED
BRANCH” or “CO-OP ATM” to your iPhone, iPad and
iPod touch or Android smart phone and find either a credit
union or an ATM you can use with no FEES! To download
the website for your computer, use www.allco-op.org.
To use a CO-OP Shared Branch, all you need is your account number, a current government issued id and to know at
the branch you choose that the credit union is listed as “Univ
of South Alabama FCU.” You can make deposits, withdrawals or loan payments at any shared branch location.
To use a CO-OP ATM, just locate an ATM in your
area on your phone or computer!!! Make sure you have you’re
USAFCU ATM/debit card and know your PIN. That’s all
you need, simple as that, 24 hour access to your funds, FEE
FREE!!
Peace of Mind
With our Courtesy Pay Program
It happens to the best of us. We unintentionally write a check
for more money than we have in our checking account,
forget to record an ATM withdrawal, forget to note a debit
transaction, or forget to note an automatic bill pay deduction.
Whatever the reason, a check returned for non-sufficient
funds (NSF) is both costly and embarrassing. Your credit
union offers a Courtesy Pay Program that is not a line of
credit. However, if you inadvertently overdraw your checking
account, the credit union will have the discretion to pay the
overdraft, subject to the limit of the courtesy pay program
and the amount of the courtesy pay fees. If you are not
on the courtesy pay program yet, call our member service
representatives to ask how to qualify.
Credit Union
Loan Puts
You in the
Driver’s Seat
If you’re concerned your current vehicle is no match for Old
Man Winter, let a loan from the credit union put you back
on top of your game. Interest rates have never been better on
loans for both new and used vehicles. When you finance your
wheels with the credit union, you have a lot more options
than you do with dealer financing. At first glance the dealer
rates can be appealing, but typically they are offered only
on select models, often the slower-moving ones. And “not
all buyers will qualify” - meaning the best rate may only be
available to buyers with pristine credit records. When you
get a pre-approved loan from the credit union, you can shop
like a cash buyer. You can compare various makes and models
across a number of dealers. Start your search online at sites
like www.edmunds.com, www.kbb.com (Kelley Blue Book),
www.autobytel.com and others. Check out the April issue of
Consumer Reports magazine which includes the annual car
buying guide. Armed with your loan from the credit union
and your research, you’ll be in the driver’s seat.
Happy New Year!
