Position No. 011.512.5050 INTERNAL/EXTERNAL JOB ANNOUNCEMENT ******************************************************** PROCESSING ASSISTANT III With Cleveland County Dept. of Social Services Child Support Unit SUPERVISOR: Tracy Tolbert SALARY GRADE: 58 SALARY RANGE: $22,236 - $34,680 CLOSING DATE: November 8, 2012 Job Description The primary functions of this position are to serve as Receptionist and Switchboard Operator for the Child Support Division, Processing Income Withholdings and Enforcement Documents, along with Data Entry, Preparing Reports, Processing Mail, Typing, Filing, and Other Duties as assigned by Supervisor. Minimum Education and Experience Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least one year of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Page 2 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to resolve problem situations, answer inquiries and questions independently, and be resourceful in gathering, giving, and explaining information. Ability to deal with the public in a professional and friendly manner. Considerable knowledge of vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and of office practices and procedures. Ability to maintain clerical records and to compile reports from these records. Ability to read and compare words and figures carefully and accurately. Ability to apply established departmental procedures to a variety of work situations. All DSS positions require the ability to produce high quality results under pressure of tight time frames, high caseloads, and scarce resources. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a desired qualification. Physical Requirements Must be able to physically perform the basic life support functions of stooping, reaching, climbing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, filing, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform Light work which includes exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must have the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform accounting functions, operate computer terminal, answer and route switchboard calls, filing, extensive reading and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
