This publication lists positions for which applications are currently being accepted. Applications may be obtained at the Human
Resources Office or the local Employment Security Commission. Applications are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00
am to 5:00 pm (except holidays). Applications received after the closing date will NOT be accepted. As a condition of
employment, individuals hired by the County are required to present proof of identity and legal eligibility to work in the United
States before they can begin work. Male applicants between the ages of 18 and 26 are required by State Law to certify that

Job Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide clerical support to the Family Services Units,
which includes: transporting clients for drug screens; making home visits to teach parenting and
budgeting skills; purchasing food and clothing for clients; transporting children in and out of county
to foster placements; and other miscellaneous clerical support functions as assigned by supervisor.
This position requires the ability to produce high quality results under pressure of tight time
frames and deadlines.
Minimum Education & Experience
Completion of high school and one year of experience in clerical work. Completed training in an
accredited college, university, or business school may be substituted.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic knowledge of the social, economic, and environmental conditions of clients to be served;
working knowledge of basic household tasks and management functions and ability to teach others;
working knowledge of and ability to enlist the aid of available community resources. Ability to
exercise good judgment in appraising situations and communicate findings. Ability to deal with the
public in a professional and friendly manner. Considerable knowledge of vocabulary, spelling,
grammar, and of office practices and procedures. Ability to maintain clerical records and to compile
reports from these records. Ability to apply established departmental procedures to a variety of work
situations. Computer skills, valid NC driver’s license, good driving record and own transportation
required. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a desired qualification.
