DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Employee in this position will work in partnership with social work supervisors and social
workers within the department to implement beginner, immediate and advanced social work theory based practices in the
agency’s social work programs. Responsibilities include designing, developing and continuously improving processes and
structures that create a system of learning and practice enhancement for the department’s practicing social workers.
Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence based or promising practice training processes
and training structures to implement for social workers and social work supervisors that raises the practice level of social
work staff. Will also provide field supervision to Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work interns. Lead trainer for
the agency’s social work practice skills program which is designed for non BSW/MSW staff to enhance the individual
development in the social work profession. Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of quality social work
practice. Ability to teach social work theory, principles, techniques and overall sound social work practice. Considerable
knowledge of training theory, principles and techniques. Knowledge of methods of supervision. Ability to interpret, apply,
and communicate a variety of program policies, procedures, and regulations. Ability to exercise sound judgment in assessing
training needs, development of objectives, recommending training goals, and evaluating individual learning. Ability to adapt
and communicate information to a wide range of audiences and situations. Ability to orient social workers, interns, and other
staff. Skills in coaching and relating to others. Must have a wide knowledge of learning styles. Ability to document and
design training based processes. Develop and continuously evaluate E-Learning as a training resource and research
additional training/evaluation tools. Coordinates and works closely with external trainers in delivering special project
training. Requires the ability to effectively incorporate individual adult learning styles in a creative and enthusiastic manner.
Evaluates staff training, learning activities, and maintains Staff Development database and resource center. Provides
training to agency staff on a wide variety of topics for staff development. Employee will be required to provide clinical social
work case management as determined appropriate in order to maintain a familiarity with program knowledge and practice
skills and possibly complete LCSW requirements. Requires the ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting and maintain
a cooperative and effective working relationship with team members, community professionals, and agency leaders. Must
possess and be able to demonstrate excellent skills in the following software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power
Point. Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited
institution and two years of supervised social work experience as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification
and Licensure Board.
PREFERENCES: Master’s degree plus three years of social work experience; Master’s degree from an accredited school of
social work and two years of supervised social work experience as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification
Board. Prefer applicant certified to practice as a certified Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) as required by the North Carolina
Social Work Certification Board. Degrees must be from an appropriately accredited institution. Will also consider candidates
interested in pursuing LCSW certification and completing the required social work clinical hours over a two year period.
Prefer candidates with experience practicing solutions focused brief therapy, Signs of Safety, or other solution focused social
work practice models.
