Gina, ‘18 Hometown: Scotch Plains, NJ Major: Communications (Public Relations) Personal Interests: I specialize in two things: shopping and watching Netflix. My favorite shows on Netflix are American Horror Story, Orange is the New Black and How I Met Your Mother. I also love to craft and when I have time I love to read. Campus Involvement: I have personally been involved in the Emerging Leaders Program, the Student Programming Council, Habitat for Humanity, Residence Hall Council and Ambassadors. I decided that I wanted to rush and now I am a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma. How I Can Help As Your Peer Mentor: Being dropped off on that first day of college is tough because you have +800 potential new friends and you don't know where to start! But I am here to help you meet new people, walk you through your academic semester, and to help you have a great first year! What I Was Nervous About: I was super nervous for my roommates! I lived in Marian Hall which means I didn't just get one roommate but two! Turns out that living in Marian was the best decision I could have made, and it's really ok if your roommate is NOT your best friend. Stay true to who you are, and you'll be fine. What I Was Excited About: I was really excited to just meet new people and start a new chapter of my life. Marist is such an amazing place where everyone is kind and wants to see their peers succeed. You could tell right away how genuinely nice the people are here and that's what made me so excited to be a part of the Marist family. Advice for the Class of 2019: Someone once told me that for networking purposes you should try to meet two new people everyday. I took this advice to heart but not for networking‐‐ just for meeting people on campus! There are so many students and even if it's just one person to smile to on the way to class, it doesn't hurt knowing as many people as possible! If that means going into the dining hall alone and seeing who you could eat with do it! They may turn out to be your next best friend. “I know that coming to college is a roller coaster of emotions, but trust me it's going to be the best time of your life. I am so excited to meet you in the fall! Have a great summer with your high school friends and get ready for a whole new adventure!”
