I. Minutes

II. Treasurer’s Report (Carla Farniok) –
a. For the general account (9900770), the beginning balance was $2,549.08. The
following items posted for the month: $57.39 letterhead, $100 transferred to the
scholarship account, $10 bandana sale, and $294.58 printing for luncheon. The
current balance is $2107.11.
b. For the scholarship account (882046), the beginning balance was 11,134.40. The
following item was posted for the month: $100 luncheon, $219.87 contributions,
and $6 non-endowment interest. The current balance is $11460.27.
c. For the endowment fund (884046), the beginning balance was $102,515.00, and
there was no activity for the month. The current balance is $ 102,515.

III. Director of Human Resources (Pam Bowman) –
• Pam shares that the service recognition banquet was last week. Also, Ashley Little
started in her office; (he’s) doing job audits.
IV. Vice President for Administrative Services Report (Julie DeWees) – Julie said we
should get a lot of money in April from the state (estimating about $13 million of money
owed by state will come in in April). Julie met with Representative Hammond who
mentioned additional health & human services expenses, and there is a chance we won’t
get all our FY13 money. Currently, for the FY14 budget, there is an estimated $2.6
million (4.9%) budget decrease, and college representatives will be meeting with
legislature.
V. Group Concerns – Pam mentions there has been no news on the hiring retiree issue;
they are hoping legislators will push back at least a year.
VI. President’s Report (Bill Rupert) – State still owes WIU about $40 Million.
• Received e-mail about annual review of Dr. Thomas from our group.
o Bill will accept comments via e-mail.
VII. Civil Service Employee of the Month (Wendi Mattson) –
Sandy Huston, Beu Health Center; Wendi also asks everyone to please complete votes
earlier

c. Training and Development (Carla Farniok) –
• There is an upcoming Enrich YOU at WIU session on April 8 – Think Purple—
About how to dress appropriately while dressing casual. 12:10-1:00pm in the
Sherman Hall 3rd floor auditorium.
• Upcoming training for anyone-supervising millennials—Jude Kiah is
facilitating this session on April 17th from 9:30am-11:30am in the Physical
Plant large training room.
• Microsoft Word, Advanced training – Malpass Library, 2nd floor computer
classroom, 9-11am.
XI. Committee Reports
a. Policy & Appeals (Bill Rupert) – The appeal the group was involved in
completed and recommendations sent.
b. Awards and Selection (Hilary Churchill) – Hilary: we are working on getting all
information out there to get applicants. So far there have only been two
applications received.
c. Constitution/Election (Jim Buffalo) – Elections are coming up, and Bill asks for
the group to solicit for statements of candidacy. A telestars has been sent, and no
applicants are in yet.
Bill says he feels there are some issues with wording that need to be fixed before
they can be passed.
d. Education (Hilary Churchill) –
No report
e. Fundraising (Wendi Mattson) – a. Vote on spending money for fund raising. Wendi talks about $50 raffle idea to sell lottery tickets to anyone and winner will be drawn, Wendi asks for approval to proceed with raffle,

Another fundraising idea is a traveling cardboard Rocky; display
would be “rented” to other areas. Carla is going to check with Darcie
about making sure it is ok. Jim motions to print for next luncheon,
Kim seconds.
f. Mentoring (Kim Sedgwick) – There are four new employee: Ann Reid, OSS
Econ & Decision Sciences.; Amanda Dowis, OSA, IIRA; Rosemary McCoy,
Collection Specialist in Business Services?; Dawn Gray, OSS, Center
International Studies
g. Social Events & Development (Hilary Churchill/Wendi Mattson)Wendi asks what our big prizes should be; budgeted amount will be spent.
Everyone talks about weekend stay at Fun City, Jumers, ect. Hilary is going to
talk to Tishly about Fun City. The hope is to do two or three. Wendi still needs
disco/70s games too. Bill says he does not know the cost of setting up at rec
center. Wendi said we have to buy table cloths too.
Everyone talks about sending “thank you’s” to donors.
