KCCI.com, IA 03/22/06 ISU Researchers Drill To Test Water Quality AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University researchers are drilling wells at Ada Hayden Park on the north side of Ames. Crews are digging the wells at five different locations at the park to test the quality of ground water at the location. The city uses the lake as a backup water supply and want to preserve the water quality. "The city needs to know how to protect it in the future as the city grows out northward," said Evan Christianson, an ISU graduate student. "They need to protect some areas that are a high area of recharge and that water eventually ends up in the lake."
