KCCI.com, IA 04-03-07 Body Found In ISU's Lake LaVerne Body Located After Expanded Search AMES, Iowa -- A body has been found that matches the description of an ISU college student who had been missing since last weekend. Iowa State University sophomore Abel Bolanos, 19, has been missing since early Saturday morning after leaving a party. He left his car and dorm keys at the party he had attended, according to police. ISU police commander Eugene Deisinger said that at 3:39 p.m. that a diver team found the body in the lake. He stressed that no positive identification has yet been made. The search had been focused around Wallace Hall, where Bolanos lived and between the apartment where he was last seen. The search then expanded Tuesday to include bodies of water such as Lake LaVerne. Authorities learned Monday night that a credit card and debit card belonging to Bolanos were dropped off at an Ames bank prior to 10:30 a.m. Monday. Teams of volunteers helped trained searchers from the STAR 1 team, Civil Air Patrol and local law enforcement officials. Deisinger said the Bolanos family has been notified. He said the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the state medical examiner and Ames police are also at the scene. He said no foul play is suspected.
