Metropolitan Community College DACC MEETING Thursday, June 11, 2015 3-4:30 PM PV 503 Minutes Attendees: Kristy Bishop, Cynthia Sexton Proctor, Melissa Giese, Mickey McCloud, Mary Northrup, Leo Hirner, Tristan Londre, Doug Fishel, Tammie May, Jim McGraw, David Oehler, Nancy Russell, Dachia Scroggins Approval of Minutes The minutes were approved. Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs No report IRB Report • The IRB policy is moving through the CPRC. • One pending IRB is going through legal. An external agency is wanting to recruit students in a smoking cessation program. HLC Committee Report o Our compliance and assurance draft is completed and available for review. Kristy can email it to those requesting it. The deadline for submission is Oct. 16th. Our visit is November 16-17, 2015. We are awaiting confirmation of which campuses the team will visit. o The next HLC Steering committee meeting is the June 16st. o Joe Seabrooks has taken the lead of Criterion 1. o AC206 will be the team’s home base. Locks are being installed. PVcc502 and 503 and the boardroom are also for the team. o Mike is reviewing information with the board as well as providing trainings at each campus. o We are working on getting a list of faculty and their credentials updated for the teams review. o A communication plan will be worked on next week with marketing and Kent’s group. Survey Reports • CCSSE (Community College Survey of Student Engagement)/CCFSSE (Faculty survey) o All data has been collected and submitted to CCSSE. Results will be available July 31st. o 85% of classes participated o 41% of faculty completed the online CCFSSE • SENSE o Would like DACC to look at the results and decide on a few things we could work on. It was suggested that each campus has a team to review results as well and bring recommendations back to DACC. LV has the assessment committee, BR could recruit people, MW has a team. FOCUS has their own oversample data to look at but has a retention team also. o Results will also be presented at the symposium. It was suggested that perhaps Michel Hillman does a follow-up with each discipline to get more in depth. • Spring class rosters are being collected. • 3rd cohort: ART, English, Library, Music, Political Science, Speech Higher Learning Commission Update • The MCC Summer Symposium is July 17th, 2015 at Penn Valley, EC19. o Chancellor James is not confirmed to do the opening yet. o The format will include interactive games: Assessment Family Feud and HLC Jeopardy. Family Feud questions were developed for the symposium. • HLC site visit by Peer Review Team will be November 16-17, 2015. Assessment Reports No report Proposals for new assessment or survey requests No report Campus Reports • We still need a faculty member for BR and LV. • BR – No report • BTC– They are collecting a summary of program improvements. They will choose 2 programs per year to present to campus leadership. • LV – Hope interventions will continue this fall. • MW – No report • PV – COLL 100 journals have been given in classes and were forwarded to IR as a qualitative data point. • FOCUS Grant – They are behind with spring data analysis but a research analyst was hired and starts July 6th. The external evaluator is conducting focus groups with students. PV is using Engage to measure non-cognitive measures and BR is using a writing assessment for placement. Old Business • Kimberly Glackin presented GRIT at a recent conference. • The 6th Annual Regional Community College Assessment Conference is April 22nd, 2016 at JCCC. • We have hosted this conference every other year, however, it is a huge endeavor for Kristy and Melissa. They have started a Council with JCCC and several other people from other states to coplan the conference for 2016. It will now be held annually at JCCC.
