The Task
The major electrical components are crucial to
the availability of the power plant and represent
high invested asset values.
That means they need to be reliably shut down
if there is a danger of their being damaged. On
the other hand, the unit's availability should not
be reduced by unnecessary trips.
Incorrect synchronization of the generator
with the grid is another potential cause of major
damage. That is why it must only be connected
up if the conditions required for synchronization
are reliably fulfilled.
Installed systems are often no longer
adequately able to cope with this task.
Maintenance is becoming more and more
difficult because know-how and replacement
parts are increasingly in short supply.
