Dear Parents/Guardians:
I am pleased your student has opted to take Principles of Business this semester. This course covers
principles and concepts that will be the foundation for future study of business. Some of the concepts that
will be covered in this course include economic activities, global economy, business ownership,
leadership, marketing, banking, saving, credit, insurance, and financial management. This memo is to
share with you some basic information about classroom procedures and expectations. Please help your
student to achieve success in this course by supporting him/her in the following ways:

 Calculator
Attendance:
Attendance is essential for success in this course. All makeup work must be completed within 3 days
after the student has returned from the absence.

Students will be evaluated using the following criteria:

**This course will have a Vocats exam that will be given on exam days and will count 25% of the
student’s grade.

Classroom Rules and Procedures
Equipment:
The equipment that we use is lab is very expensive and we must do our best to maintain their reliability. If
I feel that a student has not been respectful to these machines, they will lose access to them. All users of
equipment owned by Catawba County Schools must have a signed Acceptable Use Policy on file with the
media center. I will be going over these rules during the first few days of class so the students will know
exactly what they can and cannot do while using the equipment.
Classroom Procedures:













Complete Acceptable Use Policy on file with the Media Center.
No food or drinks are allowed in the computer lab. (except bottle water)
You may not connect any device to the machine with permission.
You may not change the setup of your machine. (background)
Only use the computer that you are assigned.
No one is allowed on any online games, online videos, media player, myspace, facebook,
twitter, Ebay, instant messenger, personal email, or music sites at any time.
Do not print without permission.
No sleeping.
Turn cell phones off and keep them put up.
No iPods or MP3 players.
No book bags (only school string bags).
Must have name tag visible.
Do not work on homework from other classes.

How to be Successful:






Be RESPECTFUL.
Be prepared for class each day by bringing your notebook and pencil/pen.
Take notes and pay attention during class demonstrations and presentations.
Listen and contribute to class discussions.
Complete all assignments.
Students can make up all assignments and tests with a grade below a 70.
