Follow-ship Teaching Youth the fundamentals and steps before leadership What this all about???? ● ● ● ● ● Definition:the practice of doing what other people suggest, rather than taking the lead. Organizing and teaching youth in order to lead you have to follow. Sustaining a core curriculum as well as using examples on the subject. Building character and encouraging youth to work hard. Promote Leadership Goal's ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Develop relationships that last a life time Installing principals and wisdom while being an living example Teaching them to be a role model at their school,home etc. Getting the youth off the street and helping them acquire the necessary requirements for the career of their choice To Develop a strong foundation Teaching them You have a choice and that you have a voice in any and every situation Building the Leaders of Tomorrow Schedule ● ● Monday Thru Friday 9am-3pm – Morning encouragement by instructor – Work – Lunch break provided by Harambee – Time of discussion/classroom time Materials ● Sign in sheet ● Work Gloves and trash bags ● Brooms,Mops,water hose etc. ● Cleaning solution ● Paper,Pens,Books ● Printouts of Discussion topics ● Basketballs,footballs etc. Procedures ● ● We worked with the kids on labor projects to give them the hands on training that most youth don't get until they get their first job. They were majority clean up projects so it wasn't too much but it gave them the experience they needed. We also had them participate in classroom activities such as reading books, having open conversations about debatable subjects,writing summaries on different topics and used some sports games as an example for character building. Procedures cont. ● ● We challenged the youth time management skills by: * Set schedule,Time card,Reflections and Timed lunch break. We built verbal skills by interviews, open topics of discussion, conversation and grammar. Discipline ● First offense: Warning ● Second offense: documented discipline ● Third offense: sent home ● Fourth offense: No reward for ending process *note Everyone in the program received the reward Yayyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!! Rewards ● Along with the character building and knowledge we treated the youth to a day Knott's Berry Farm and took them to a krump dancing event to build stronger relationship between adults and youth. *Note Adult supervision while at events ● Results ● Work experience ● 100% productivity ● Strong relationships ● Mature youth ● Stronger morals ● Confidence Strengths and Weaknesses ● ● Very Cohesive ● Really Transparent youth and Adults ● ● ● ● Professionalism ● Productivity Loving Leaders and Followers ● More weekly activities with each other.(off work site) More Youth lead events More motivationally speaks/ Public figures.
