National University of Singapore NUS Business School Department of Management and Organization MNO3301 Organizational Behavior Course Instructor: Dr. Ruolian Fang Session: Semester 2, 2012/2013 Module Description This course introduces students to the field of organizational behavior. It investigates the impact that individuals and groups have on behavior within organizations. Specifically, we will examine individual characteristics (e.g., personality, emotion, and attitudes) and group factors (e.g., communication, leadership, and power) that affect performance and effectiveness of individuals, groups, and organizations. Key attention is devoted to the applied goals, concentrating on how the scientific study of behavior within organizations can and does contribute to the understanding and solving of practical problems confronted by the organizations. The classes will be a combination of lecturing and in-class (team) discussions, aiming to enhance students’ critical thinking skills and provide an interactive learning environment that allows students to develop and acquire effective interpersonal and teamwork skills. Course Readings: The basic textbook for the course is Organizational Behavior by Stephen P. Robbins and Timothy A. Judge, 14th edition, Prentice Hall.
