 Introduction of Coaches

 Expectations of Cheerleaders: Ambassadors of School Spirit
o We expect our cheerleaders to be Role Models on the court as well as in the classroom:
 This includes taking pride in the school, always being in dress code, responsible use
of social media, unity amongst team members and coaches (team activities,
fundraisers, etc.)
 NCAA Eligibility (determined by school) based on credits
 Grades will be checked once per month
 School Practice Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00 PM (Frequency will change
depending on what is going on each week)
 Season Length
o First Varsity Game is NOV 11
o 2-3 games per week
o Season will last through the first week in February with Region and then State tournaments
going into the 1st week of March
 Tryout Logistics
o Tryouts will be held September 2-4, 2014 from 4-6 PM in the Media Center
o On Sept 4th you will be divided up into small groups to perform for the judges
o Things you’ll learn: 2 cheers, 2 chants, dance, and jumps
o Things you’ll need to bring: Make up your own cheer (basketball related)
 Physicals: Every student that wants to tryout must have a current physical on file. We would like
for these physicals to be valid through September 15th, 2014.
 Booster Club Dues and Parent Expectations
o $750 for Varsity and Junior Varsity (amount may change for returning cheerleaders)
 Payments plans can be arranged
o Parents will need to be willing to volunteer for Carpooling to away games
o Pre-game meals and snacks
 Application Packet
o All portions of the application (including an updated physical to Mrs. MaryMargret Jordan
in the counseling office) are due August 29, 2014 in an envelope to Coach Waters in the
Counseling Office or Coach Bradbury in Room 2248. All applications should be in a manila
envelope with the student’s name on the outside top right-hand corner.
