What we did this week . . (Sept. 30-Oct.4)
Looking ahead. . .(Oct. 7-11)
We had an award assembly and our class won the
Playground Award! Way to go class! Our students are
so kind to each other! We finished Unit 1 in Everyday
math and took a unit test. We began Unit 2 in
Everyday math. We did two 6 traits writing activities
about ideas. We read the book If and created our own
class If book. We also read the book My Lucky Day
and wrote about our own lucky days. We read the
book The Library Mouse and found 267 sight words!
We will do lessons 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, and 2.7 in Everyday
math. We will learn about syllables. To use our
knowledge of syllables we will write Fall Haiku
poems. We will write what we learned about Kevin
Henkes, our September Author of the Month. We will
start our new Author of the Month, Ezra Jack Keats.
We will start our new science unit about Sound. I
will be gone on Friday, Oct. 11th attending a TAG
(talented and gifted students) conference.

Meet our Star Student
Aemon Swekel! His favorite subjects are science,
phy.ed., music and reading. His favorite movie is
“Turbo.” His favorite restaurant is Long John
Silvers. He likes to go to Legoland, Cave of the
Mounds, Toys R Us, fishing, and the zoo. His
favorite book is Magic Tree House.
Important dates:
Monday, Oct. 7th: Early Release at 12:30.
Friday, Oct. 18th: Walking fieltrip to the Fire
Station. Leave at 9:20 and return at 10:20.

Please send a clean, white sock to
school as soon as possible. We will be using
these for our math slates. Thanks!
