Higher Engineering Apprentice

We are looking for Higher Apprentices to join Mainline Rail
Automation department, a part of the Mobility division.
Siemens Mobility is supplying answers to the questions of
our time: How will cities solve the problems of increasing
traffic? How can railway operators increase throughput,
punctuality, and security of their systems? In short, what
solutions are available to avoid the looming threat of total
gridlock? All the mobility-related products, solutions, and
services from Siemens are bundled in the Mobility Division.

The successful candidate will complete a structured
learning programme over a four year period; this could be
reduced upon successful completion of various criteria.
Included in this programme you will gain an understanding
of the business unit; its goals, vision, services, comprising
departments, customers, and supply chain. This will enable
development of engineering skills, knowledge, and
competence in preparation for a role within the engineering
group.
As a valued member of the team, this role will enable you
to learn to capture requirements, design, implement, test,
install and maintain SCADA/PLC control and monitoring
systems and/or railway telecommunications. In
addition, projects may also include Integrated Station
Management, Passenger Information, Remote Condition
Monitoring systems, Operational and Retail
Communications systems.
What are my responsibilities?
To successfully complete all elements of a structured
learning plan including:



Nationally-recognised engineering qualifications
Attend all role/performance review sessions as
necessary to review progress made.
Work placement rotation plan


Take ownership and responsibility for the
completion of all allocated tasks in accordance
with instructions provided.
Develop professional competence through:Maintaining a CPD File
Obtaining membership of relevant Institutions, if
appropriate
Successfully complete all training courses
provided
What do I need to qualify for this job?






GCSE level C or above (or equivalent) in
Science, Maths and English
‘A’ level or BTEC National Cert (or equivalent) in a
computer based subject, Maths and / or
Physics.
Good communication skills, both written and
verbal
Organisational and time management skills
IT Literate
Awareness of aspects of telecoms engineering
relating to fixed networks
What else do I need to know?

hazards by removing or minimising them wherever
possible.
