About the Role
The Graphic Designer has responsibility for a range of functions, under limited direction, and exercises initiative, judgement and sound knowledge gained through
experience, training or education. The graphic designer will be responsible for the production of marketing materials to brief and in line with branding protocols
including course flyers, event collateral, brochures and bespoke collateral. They will also support the development of design concepts and solutions for program
specific promotion across various mediums (print, digital, website etc) and contribute technical advice and support to members in the marketing team and internal
clients.
Key Role Outcomes
The Graphic Designer will work toward established priorities, using established work practices to achieve results in line with the goals of the workgroup. The critical
key role outcomes that need to be achieved are:
1. Producing and distributing marketing materials to brief and in line with branding protocols including course flyers, event collateral, brochures,
publications and bespoke collateral
2. Providing quality control over marketing materials with regard to production standards, branding and compliance with the brief
3. Supplying clients with templates, written and verbal technical advise to ensure TAFE SA presents a consistent and compliant suite of visual
communication material
4. Ensuring that briefing processes are communicated and complied with in the production of all marketing materials to ensure that customer expectations
are understood, managed and met
5. Design, deliver and support the production of high quality multi-media and marketing tools to be used by the team and other directorates, as well as
other agencies and stakeholders
6. Liasing and accessing information/advice from a range of sources (internal and external) to support client consultation needs

7. Apply knowledge of design principles and desktop publishing for the design and layout of presentation and publications for electronic media and/or
hardcopy
8. Providing high level technical and creative input to the development of marketing materials
Experience:
Relevant experience comparable to the classification level including:





Experience in providing effective customer service based on the development of clear briefs and guidelines to ensure a shared understanding of the promotional
material to be delivered
Industry experience in a graphic or visual design capacity, and/or experience in Industry Standard software applications
Ability to communicate and respond effectively to the requirements of a diverse group of customers both verbally and in writing with demonstrated
interpersonal skills that facilitate the interaction and co-operation including negotiation and conflict resolution.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated and flexible in responding to changing work priorities. Proven ability to work independently and
as a team player.
Ability to produce work of a high standard within tight deadlines.
Knowledge:


Demonstrated knowledge of design principles, photography, print production, desktop and electronic publishing.
An understanding of marketing and promotional principles and their implementation in the development of promotional materials.
Key Relationships/Interactions
The Graphic Designer is responsible to a line manager and interacts with other team members, Educational staff, students, Industry representatives, other Agencies
and members of the general public.

Special Conditions:


Will be required to have a satisfactory Criminal History & Background Screening Check prior to being employed and every three years
Eligible to work in Australia

Out of hours work may be required and a flexible approach to hours of duty and the taking of leave is essential.
