School holiday activities across Moonee Valley
Acro-balance, mythical creature Lego creations and pop-up sporting events are just some of
the activities to keep children entertained across Moonee Valley this summer.
Moonee Valley City Council has planned a wide range of free and low-cost programs to keep
kids of all ages active and engaged this school holidays.
Moonee Valley Mayor, Cr Andrea Surace said there is something for everyone including
printmaking, cooking, boxing, basketball and even an Australia Day party.
“We have lined up some great water activities to beat the heat including new inflatables, sun
lounges and the latest aquatic attraction, battery powered bumperboats,”
“The Incinerator Gallery is also hosting a fantastic boat making workshop which will
culminate in a boat race down the Maribyrnong River.” Cr Surace said.

Create your own floating boat artwork in this creative workshop utilising recycled materials to

FESTIVALLING
Part workshop, part Live Art performance, artists Georgina Humphries and Christine Caminiti
invite children ages 5-12 to become co-creators in their own "festival" experience. Georgina
Humphries Sky.of.tents installation will act as a backdrop for hands-on making and
experimental play and dance.

Recycled costume fun
Use your imagination to turn recycled materials into a creative costume. A box might
transform into a car or a coat hanger into wings! Once created, write a narrative about your

Circus
Join the circus and learn how to juggle using colourful scarves and balls. Take part in

Essendon Traffic School is a great place for kids to practice riding their bicycles while
learning about road rules. Complete with road signs, railway bells and traffic lights, this mini
road set up for kids aged two to ten years will be open this summer holidays from 4 – 23
January.

As part of a new master plan, we are investigating opportunities to improve water quality in
the creek, consider the needs of local wildlife and develop options to make this area more
usable and enjoyable for local residents.
