Seating and Lab Assignments You will be put in to lab groups of two or three in a group. If you do not have a lab partner you will be assigned to a group. Students will be able to pick seating assignments. Guideline # 2 • Secure all books, clothes, and material, turn in homework assignments. • Clean up your mess before you leave the classroom, take all your materials and books with you. Guideline # 3 • Follow all directions. • Be Safe, follow safety rules. • If you need help with any lab assignment or safety rules and guidelines just ask. Guideline #9 • Follow all lab directions from either hand outs or lab manual. Guidelines • Guidelines are a starting directions on how we do things in the classroom. • Verbal Communication. • No stress zone. • A pleasant and orderly learning environment. Guidelines Breaks will follow with disciplinary action. • 1st Warning Verbal • 2nd Written warning. Action plan, parent contact. • 3rd Written referral to the deans office. Severe Infraction Clause • Any student that causes a disturbance, fighting, uses profanity, racial remarks, harassment of any type will be sent to the office. Immediately. Rules Break • First infraction for not following safety rules during class or lab time. • Consequences: • Students: Write out safety rules. Clean lab, collect lab equipment. Students determine time of duty. • Talking or horseplay in lab. • Consequences: • Stay after school for detention one half hour for a period of one week. Do 15 page written report on the three main concepts of Biology. APA format Rules Infraction • Third infraction. Rules break. Not cleaning up lab area. • Consequences: • Clean lab area for one week. • Fourth Infraction. Safety violation. Students give oral report to the class room on the importance of safety in the lab area. Outline must by typed and turned in for credit. Classroom Procedures • • • • • • Entering class room or lab. Be quiet and courteous to other students. Take your seat or be in assigned area. Get out materials, or set up lab materials. Review syllabus. Weekly assignments. Read assignment on smart board Tardy • Enter quietly • Excused: Place excuse slip in attendance basket on teachers desk. • Unexcused: sign tardy list on side of filing cabinet. Movement • Ask permission during class time • Movement is permitted during lab time • Do not ask for hall pass during lecture, unless it is an emergency. • Only one student issued a hall pass for restroom uses at one time, unless it is an emergency. Speaking during class time Wait for proper times to address class, raise hand if needed. Be polite. Be firm stand tall and speak. Raise hand to be acknowledged. Papers and Reports • • • • • • • Written papers must be in APA format Lab reports must be done with lab sheets All home work in to be placed in proper baskets Lab reports Written reports Home work In class work assignment. Student Contract • Students will sign work contract for work done in groups. • Group critique reports will be handed in at the same time as group report. Rewards • If all safety rewards all followed during semester. • Extra credit points will be rewarded. • Pizza party.
