MAKING A BUDGET FOR NWACC’S MAKER CLUB Nicole Milmon, EMPACTS Independent Study Project PROJECT As an accounting major, who needed one more math credit for graduation, I joined the newly forming “Maker Club” to help them as their first official Treasurer. My learning objectives included honing my skills in accounting by helping them to develop an initial budget and organize finances. My project is specifically designed to help the NWACC Maker Club, EMPACTS Program and the NWACC community in general. I learned how to create a more complex formulas with Excel so the club could use them for future budgeting. I learned to problem solve the communication problems of working individually on a project for a team. Lee Stidham helped me to use Google Hangouts to communicate with the team to go over details of their fundraising and trip planning. Professor Phillips and I used email correspondence to share information and plan meeting outcomes and final project outcomes. I learned how to work as a team member and be self motivated in completion of an independent study project.
