Heathcoat Primary School Curriculum Map: Year 3 2015/16
Below is our curriculum map for this year. As the terms progress more information will be added about specific teaching activities.

based on the structure from the

The Scarab’s Secret- a narrative
text based in Ancient Egypt.
Children will write setting
descriptions and continue the
story using the main character.
Recount text- recount of
Egyptian workshop. We will look
at the features of a recount and
use our own experiences of the
day to write a recount.
We are following the Maths No
Problem scheme. We will be
focussing on numbers to 1000
and addition and subtraction,
including the column method
for addition. The children will
also use lots if equipment to
help them.

will write a recount of our trip

previous recount writing.
Traction Man- a superhero
based story. This also has links

multiplication and division. We
will begin to look at mass and
volume within measure.
