Course Objectives: This course will allow students the opportunity to learn and strengthen their knowledge of
geometry which will prepare them to succeed in higher levels of mathematics and on standardized tests. This
course will also help students strengthen skills in problem solving, critical thinking, oral and written
communication.

Geometry Online Book:
This syllabus should be kept in the front of your binder at all times. All class notes should include a title,
objective, and date. All assignments should be completed in pencil. Each assignment should include name,
seat #, date, hour, page, and problems assigned. All assignments should be kept in your math binder.

Course Requirements and Expectations:
1) All students are expected to be on time daily
2) All students must bring course materials to class daily
3) Binders must include the following in this order:
a. Do Now’s / Class work
b. Homework Assignments (including page number and problems given)
c. Notes (includes objectives, vocabulary, and examples)
d. SAT/ ACT problems/ Common Core
e. Graded Papers / Extra Credit (includes tests/ quizzes/ graded assignments)
3) All assignments are due on time and in pencil
4) Students must remain courteous and respectful to others
5) Students must follow the school dress code or they will not be allowed to enter the
classroom
6) All students are expected to get their make-up work from the assignment calendar
7) Students should study and review material/ notes regularly
8) Cell phone (some electronic devices) use is not allowed unless given permission by Ms.
Wallace
Classroom Rules:
1) Follow verbal and written directions
2) Profanity , name calling, and put downs are prohibited
3) Food and drink are prohibited
4) Keep your hands and feet off of other people and their property unless given permission
5) Don’t interrupt, make noises, or talk when someone is speaking to the class
Consequences for Breaking Rules:
1) Verbal Warning
2) Deduct 5 pts from GA on classroom behavior
3) Deduct 10 additional pts from GA on classroom behavior AND conference with the
student and/or telephone conference with a parent and/or put out of the classroom for the
remainder of the class period
4) Suspension from classroom until parent/guardian meets with instructor

Cell Phone Policy: Cell phones are not allowed in Ms. Wallace’s classroom unless given permission by Ms.
Wallace. Phones will be taken and returned at the end of the class period7 the first 2 times seen. Thereafter,
phones will be taken and given to an administrator. Parents must pick up phones from the main office.
Evaluation: Students will be evaluated on tests, quizzes, projects, homework, Do Now’s, class-work, graded
assignments, and the final exam. Assignments can be found on teacherweb.com or
www.teacherweb.com/MI/RenaissanceHighSchool/ CeciliaWallace. Late assignments WILL NOT be
accepted unless the student has a written excused absence (can be sent as an email), excused tardy, or a signed
permission slip by Ms. Wallace. Assignments are due at the beginning of the class period or when Ms.
Wallace collects assignments.
Make-up Policy: All Students will be allowed to make up homework, any assignments, and quizzes/tests only
if they have an excused absence (can be sent as an email), an excused tardy, or a permission slip signed by Ms.
Wallace. Late work without an excused absence, excused tardy, or signed permission slip WILL NOT be
accepted. Do Now’s, some class work, some quizzes, and some graded assignments can’t be made up. A “no
grade” will be given for these do now’s, class work, quizzes, and graded assignments if students have an
excused absence/ tardy. Students will have up to 3 calendar days to make up missed assignments including
homework due to an excused absence, excused tardy, or a signed permission slip by Ms. Wallace with the
exception of quizzes/ tests. If a student is absent 1 day and misses taking an assessment, the student must take
the assessment the day he/she returns to class. If a student has missed two or three days of instruction before a
quiz/test, the students will have 3 calendar days to make up the quiz/ test. Tests/quizzes can be made up during
1st lunch, after school on Tues./ Thurs., or by appointment. All quizzes/tests must be completed on the day
they are taken unless an emergency occurs. It is the student’s responsibility to get and make up all missing
work. Students should look on the assignment calendar in the classroom or the homework calendar on
teacherweb.com.
Homework Policy: Homework is given regularly. Homework is given so that students will have the
opportunity to practice skills and learn about a subject. Completing all homework is important and expected.
Homework will be collected / inspected and graded at least twice a week without advance notice. Student’s
homework will be graded according to a rubric which will be posted on teacherweb.com. Late homework
will not be accepted unless the student has a written excused absence (can be sent as an email), excused tardy,
or a signed permission slip by Ms. Wallace. Students get two “Free Passes” for homework each card marking.
Students can turn in two late homework assignments a card marking with the words “Free Pass” at the top of
each late homework assignment and each homework assignment will be accepted and graded. “Free Pass”
homework assignments will not be accepted the last two days of each card marking. Homework should be kept
inside the required binder along with all other work including extra credit.
Extra Credit: Problems/assignments will be given periodically for extra credit.
Cheating: Any cheating will result in students receiving a 0%. Cheating includes: copying homework, using
another student’s homework as their own, copying from someone else’s paper, any talking during an
assessment, looking on someone else’s paper during an assessment, using notes/ help during an assessment, or
having a phone/tablet/notebook in the lap or sitting on a cell phone, and taking a picture of an assessment.
Dress Code Policy: Students will not be allowed in the classroom if they are not in dress code
Tutoring/ Help: Students can receive help after school in room 233 on Mondays from 3:30 – 4:00, and
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 4:30. (unless told otherwise) Students can talk to Ms. Wallace during 1st
lunch or after school if they have any personal issues/ concerns or concerns/ issues about grades.
Red In Basket: All make-up work, “Free Pass” homework assignments, used hall passes, and quizzes/
tests goes into the Red In Basket. Absent/ tardy notes and permissions slips should be placed on Ms.
Wallace’s desk.
