President’s Message
Happy New Year to all! Thanks to the hard work of Rosalie Coll and her committee, and the
entertainment Olga arranged, we had a wonderful Holiday Luncheon. The singing of the Hanover Park Chamber
Singers lifted our spirits to greet the end-of-year holidays and to get through the upcoming winter weather. Don’t
forget to come to our warm and cozy Senior Center to exercise, watch TV or a movie, and play bingo and board
games with your guests and fellow seniors. Bring your lunch and enjoy coffee and dessert before our regular
meetings of January 8th, 22nd, February 12th (with a special Valentine treat), and the 26th. Hopefully, we will not
need to cancel any meeting due to bad weather, but if we do, call 973-520-8983 at the Senior Center Office for a
message.
We have several members who are unable to get out much (particularly in cold weather) and I’m sure they
would appreciate having a friendly face drop by for a short visit to show they haven’t been forgotten. If you
know of someone and can’t visit yourself, please let me know and we’ll see if we can put together a list of
volunteer visitors. This Club is “special” because our members care about each other and volunteer because they
want to do something for others.
Sincerely,
Charlene

Telephone Tree
The Telephone Tree is used primarily for notification of the death of a club member or the member’s
immediate family. This is done so that we can individually extend our condolences and attend local services.
We also call in the event of the cancellation of a meeting, or some type of emergency heat or cold situation.
Our Telephone Tree starts out with three people: Sis Badcock, Eileen Cerrato and myself. Each of us
calls nine people and those nine call approximately six others so that we cover our entire membership. We are
all volunteers doing a service for our members.
If you are not being called or do not want to be called, please let me know so you can be added or
removed from the list.
In case of the death of a club member or someone in the member’s immediate family, please call Charlene
Sozansky at 973-822-3145. If she is not available, please advise Eileen Cerrato at 973-822-2296.
Thanks.
Charlene
Seniors Helping Seniors
Recently we received a request from Family Service, renamed “Cornerstone,” for four Florham Park
residents in need of assistance. As requested two articles of clothing and four $50.00 gift cards were purchased
and given to Cornerstone to be distributed by their case workers. Unlike last year there were only four Florham
Park residents being served at this time.
The committee has suggested remembering all our senior shut-ins with a small gift and card this holiday
season. If anyone knows of a Florham Park friend or neighbor that is pretty much home bound, we would like to
know.

Bickford Theatre
I am considering a theatre event to either of the following shows at the Bickford:
Say Goodnight Gracie – a tender, funny, life-affirming love story . . . a personal guided tour in the company of
George Burns on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. This show won the 2004 National Broadway Theatre
Award for BEST PLAY.
Or
Forever Plaid – an affectionate homage to the close-harmony guy groups of the 50s and 60s with some of your
old favorites “Three Coins in a Fountain,” “Moments to Remember,” “Perfidia,” “Shangri-La,” and “Love is a
Many Splendored Thing” on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
The cost would be $33.00 a ticket and transportation is on your own, although if someone needs a ride it can be
arranged. Please let me know your interest.
