PHY 2054C Course Title General Physics II with Lab
20540 Credit: 5 Term: Spring 2016
This course is a continuation of PHY 2053C, covering the basic principles of electricity, magnetism, optics and selected topics in modern physics. The course is intended for premedical, physical therapy and other pre-professionals not majoring in the physical sciences or engineering. It can also be used to satisfy the general education requirement for physical science.
This section is a hybrid section.
Class will meet EVERY WEDNESDAY from 9am – 12:50pm.

Second of two Physics sequence courses designed to teach the students the fundamentals of physics required to follow onto a more advance field of study
Demonstrate competency with the principles of the scientific method, as well as an appreciation for its purpose in obtaining results from a collection of carefully recorded objectively based observations representing the current level of knowledge as accepted by the scientific community.
Integrate basic concepts of chemical, physical, and biological processes into a cohesive awareness of the interrelationships that exist between them.
Critically evaluate qualitative and quantitative data, applying inductive reasoning to arrive at scientifically rational conclusions.
Describe and identify components, assess and discuss results, as well as design
(and/or implement) scientific experiments.

Attendance is crucial for success in any course. Student absences will be excused at the discretion of the instructor in the cases of extreme circumstances. All students are required to be in class and prepared on time . It is your responsibility to contact the instructor in the event of an absence. If you do not contact the instructor, an absence will automatically be counted as unexcused. Quizzes in both lecture and lab may be administered to insure prompt attendance.
Quizzes cannot be made up and are given at the beginning of the lecture/lab session. Anyone arriving late forfeits the opportunity to take the quiz and will receive a zero for the missed quiz.

No late work will be accepted.
No exceptions. Homework will be due the following class period that it was assigned, whether you were present in class or not. There will be no makeup tests, quizzes, or labs. If a student must be absent from a class for an emergency situation, it is their responsibility to contact me or another student to find out what they have missed.
You need to email me no later than the day of the class that you were absent for to receive the subject material covered and/or assignments. Contact the instructor as soon as possible regarding any emergency situation.
1. Please do not attempt to carry on conversations while I'm teaching.
2. Food and drink are not allowed in lab.
3. No Cell Phones during class. Absolutely no sleeping!
4. Please Always show respect to the instructor and fellow classmates.
