Individual Giving Manager - Job Description Salary Scale: 35 - 37 (£26,687 to £28,166) Accountable to: Head of Fundraising Work base: Sense Scotland Head Office Job Summary: The Individual Giving Manager will maximise income generated from individuals across Scotland. The post holder will manage the Direct Mail Programme and Committed Giving Campaigns. Produce fundraising publications and oversee all aspects of Donor relations, including recruitment, development, retention, stewardship and committed giving for Sense Scotland fundraising team. Key Responsibilities FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT • • • • • • • • • • Be responsible for all aspects of individual giving for Sense Scotland fundraising team. Create, develop, produce and manage all aspects of the direct mail programme, working alongside fundraising and donor care team colleagues. To include writing and creating compelling direct mail packs and newsletters to prospective, new and existing donors as well as internal audiences as appropriate. Manage donor development. Including satisfaction, retention and stewardship of new and existing donors, individuals and supporters. Promote all forms of committed giving to Sense Scotland prospective, new and existing donors. Oversee, monitor and manage all new and existing donor recruitment campaigns, including face to face donor recruitment and telephone recruitment. Create and develop appropriate materials in support of each campaign. Develop and implement donor retention and stewardship strategy, consistently across all direct marketing methods employed by Sense Scotland. Ensure direct marketing campaigns, appeals and initiatives meet with as many audiences and markets as applicable to each method. Create and develop e-marketing and social media methods and campaigns for Sense Scotland donors. Create, prepare and produce monthly statistical reports on the progress of each campaign and direct mail programme, to include donor demographics and performance indicators. Select and manage associated agencies to deliver individual giving and donor recruitment campaigns. Actively seek opportunities to develop existing and new campaigns or appeals as appropriate, in conjunction with Head of Fundraising. Develop relationships with existing key partners and partnerships. Develop new relationships with organisations and corporate sponsors in conjunction with Head of Fundraising. Work alongside Trusts and Legacy officer to ensure legacy messages are relayed to donors. Prepare annual Campaign and Appeals Schedule in line with Campaign and Appeals budget and, where appropriate, in conjunction with Head of Fundraising. COMMUNICATIONS • • • • • • • • • • • Keep abreast of all internal activities – personal visits to services and with families gathering stories to feed fundraising materials for donors. Use of telephone agency for recruitment, gift aid, conversion and upgrade campaigns. Use of direct marketing agencies for the print production and distribution of mailings. Use of fundraising agencies to recruit prospective and new donors. Personal presentations promoting all aspects of fundraising activities to groups on request. Oversee best internal distribution of appropriate fundraising publications. Manage personalised mailings to targeted groups to promote higher value gifts and legacy giving. Make best use of internet and social media as appropriate for promotion of campaigns and income generation. To develop the idea of social media in a campaign or appeal format. To communicate updates to the rest of the donor care team. To contribute as part of the donor care team to the overall individual giving strategy within Sense Scotland. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT • • Monitor and report on all fundraising income and expenditure in relations to Campaigns, Appeals and Committed Giving. Prepare annual Campaign and Appeals budget in conjunction with Head of Fundraising. GENERAL • • • • To undertake training as required. To prepare for and attend Fundraising and Staff Meetings. To undertake talks/presentations to groups and individuals as required. Any other reasonable and agreed activities as requested by the Head of Fundraising. Person profile It is essential that the Individual Giving Manager will have/be: • • • • • Is creative Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. A minimum of 3 years’ experience of fundraising from individuals including experience of donor recruitment or alternatively, three years’ experience in direct marketing or creative agency. Has a proven track record and experience of fundraising from individuals/donor recruitment and retention and or a proven track record in direct marketing. Experience in creating, producing and delivering new, innovative and fresh marketing or fundraising materials either in charity or commercial sector. • • • • • • • • • • • • • Experience of desk top publishing preferably with Quark Express, in-design, photoshop and other ancillary desk top publishing packages. Good level of organisational and project management skills Excellent communication skills. Is proactive, works well under pressure and is ideas lead. Good time management skills. Sound administration skills, including good working knowledge of MS Office products and databases, and use of email and the internet A proven track record in working on own initiative and as part of a team A pro-active and problem solving approach Good presentational skills. Experience of developing and implementing plans and strategies. Ability to plan and prioritise Able to travel throughout Scotland. Current driving licence. It is desirable, but not essential, that the Individual Giving Manager has: • Portfolio of marketing materials. • Experience of creating, developing and overseeing social media either in the charitable or commercial sectors. • Certificate in Fundraising Management or other appropriate qualification • Awareness of current legal framework for charity fundraising. • Has experience of using Raisers Edge database or equivalent. • Other requirements • Be accountable for your own actions and personal and professional development. • Any other duties as reasonably requested by your line manager or senior manager relevant to the key responsibilities of the post. Hours: Holidays 37 hours per week 24 days annual leave, plus 12 public holidays as agreed locally (pro rata for part time). Probationary period: 12 months
