Classroom Procedures and
Information
 Your child is on a wonderful team with teachers who
embrace the middle school model
 If you or your child have a need, a concern or a
situation I should know about, please let me know.
 There is ALWAYS time before school if you need a
quick conference or a minute of my time. I am usually
here by 7:30-7:45 or after school from 3:30-4:00pm
 I want your child to ENJOY reading and writing even if
it isn’t his/her strength.
Supplies Needed







One spiral notebook with 70+ pages (will stay in LA classroom)
Loose-leaf paper
Folder to keep assignments, notes, etc.
Pencils
Red pens
Highlighters – at least 3 different colors
Agenda
 A novel of their choice
 Please try to have these items by the 2nd day of school!

TurnItIn.com
 Turnitin.com is an online resource that helps students
and teachers with plagiarism.
 Turnitin.com also offers other tools such as peer
editing and online rubrics.
 Assignments/Essays that are assigned on the
computer will be submitted to Turnitin.com.
 Students will be working with this online tool in the
classroom. Many students will have an account from
6th grade if they were at student at AMS.
Miscellaneous…
 Students will have vocabulary test every Friday
 Please let your child use the computer for school uses.
There are many assignments that your student would
greatly benefit with the use of a computer
 Your child’s attendance is extremely important
 Your child will keep track of all of their assessments
throughout the year. Including writing assignments,
reading quizzes, vocabulary quizzes, and grammar tests.
 Learning lab is available for students who need extra time
to complete their assignments. It is offered EVERY
morning at 7:30am
